2 First round picks ('24 and '26) Appreciation thread

The picks swaps are worth next to nothing: In 2021 we probably won't have a lottery pick, and the 2025 pick swap is top 20 protected (the worst that can happen is losing a low 20's pick for a high 20's pick).

The real price we paid is the top-4 protected picks in 2024 and 2026, which is significantly valuable but depends on the timing of our rebuilding.

The hope is that we may have about a two-year window to compete in 19-20 and 20-21 if stars align.

It's widely expected that Westbrook will not age well. Two years from now, it's quite likely that Westbrook will be a worse player than CP3 is now (some argue he already is), with two years left on his contract. Seeing in a crystal ball, the best course of action may be to trade Harden in summer 2021 for a load of draft picks, and tank as hard as possible with an aging untradeable Westbrook to get top picks in 2022 and 2023, and hope we swiftly emerge from the rebuilding in summer 2023 with max free agent and budding young stars.

 

They are where the clippers were before the Paul trade to Houston, but with a boat load of picks. OKC still has their picks too, I think.

 

Im hoping the rockets retire #24 and #26. Two of the all-time greats
