The Kings have been wanting a WING. That's why they went after LaVine. But they just gave away a WING. So they could be looking at Hood.
Kings need a 3, not another power forward or another center. (unless they're going the Bulls route and playing Anderson or whoever at the 3, lulz) Zach Randolph Skal Labissiere Marvin Bagley III Harry Giles III Willie Cauley-Stein Kosta Koufos Deyonta Davis That's already a crowded room and they don't need to get off any or even have any bad contracts. I don't see it there with Anderson/Capela but I guess never put anything past the Vivek & the Kings?
WCS and Noel I think are both interesting prospects for us in case we can't agree on a new contract with Capela. They are both young athletic rim protectors that thrive as a pick n roll bigs in our system.
Yeah and here we are about to give CC near max. Similar skill sets IMO and probably not much fall off in terms of production. CP3 and James can make scrubs look good.
The problem for the Lakers here is that the Kings could've done this even before this trade so, if they didn't do it till this point, well...
We could do Capela & Anderson for Shumpert, Koufos & Cauley-Stein, the kings could then waive/buyout Zbo who’s an expiring I believe. Leaving them with a balanced enough roster of Fox / Mason Hield / McLemore Bogdanovic / Jackson Bagley / Anderson Capela / Giles / Skal Doubt Davis gets minutes. Could get us under the lux tax since Kings could off set 20 million in any given trade with their cap space.
The Kings are the basketballholic of the NBA Consistently wrong and consistently hilarious, but I respect their dedication nonetheless.
I agree with you that they have similar skill sets, and that CC is not worth the max. He is more disciplined than NN, but I have my doubts if he will try to live up to his impending new contract. I'm glad he is a RFA, who isn't in great demand. However, it just takes one team to give a big contract. My gut feeling is that the likelihood of that happening is low to moderate. The Rockets have the edge, so far. There is no reason for them to cave in to his demands.
Rockets better jump on that. You have to think the Kings would prefer Ryno over Deng. Deng hasn't even seen the court in...2 years? Can he even play anymore?
What does dumping Ryno into cap space do for us, other than deplete our draft capital? The LeBron dream is dead, no reason to move Ryno just to move him.
The only reason to trade him is to get a serviceable player in return. Other than that, you’re right. It doesn’t make sense just to dump him.
