I think that may be mixed up. I think he was saying he doesn't see CP3 coming back to LA unless it's because of Lebron. He loves Houston.
I think there is a better chance than you think. Melo made some statements about not being worried about money that are very interesting.
Funny how Cuban had a pretty smooth machine going a few seasons back. He had Marc Stein feeding pro-Dallas stories to the mainstream and he had Dan Fegan (RIP) funneling clients to Dallas. Then it just kinda sorta fell apart.
it's not so much as not having ties. It's more the fact that no news comes out of the rockets. It's near impossible to get even a whisper out. Then, BAM! - Trade for CP3 or Trade for Harden or Dwights on a plane to Houston that may or may not turn around. It's the unexpected timing.
Sure, I'll give you that. The timing is surprising some times, but the players aren't. It's not like Morey was being linked to Dwight and then BAM trade for Anthony Davis! No reason to think we are really working on some super secret deal for an unnamed player.
He was looking at multiple teams, and the. It just happened. So unless you think that every free agent we are considering is a done deal, I think it came out of nowhere
Part of it is also we were not the "favorite" to land the player, but he choice Houston over others. Adds to the Surprise/Wow factor.
well every FA goes through their options. that's obviously the smart thing to do when shuffling through choices and narrowing them down But there isn't really an out of nowhere angle for houston here. cp3 and houston were linked together the entire offseason as a possibility and as seen in the documentary it was one of his top choices
So, if you are Big Time and can get paid elsewhere, as well as next to RW, do you sign to play with him or run off to other pastures? Me? He’s Mr League Pass but if I were a player I’d take a pass.
I'd take a pass if I really wanted to win. I could stand OKC (bad tornadoes and mega-conservative politics notwithstanding). Fans are appreciative there. But "other pastures" is my vote.
Good point. Melo has made comments hinting that he doesn't like standing at the 3 pt line. He wants to be the 2nd option at minimum and could definitely see him opting out and taking less to play for a team that will treat him like it's 2013.
He had 7 points in both games 5 and 6 of their series with Utah. On 5-13 shooting and 0-2 from three. He had 2 assists the ENTIRE series, both in game 1. He doesn't play defense. He's a ho hum rebounder. Was it a great fit in OKC?? No. But it's not like his regular season stats were much worse than the prior year, absent just lower overall ppg. I think you just have to admit Melo's game has just trended down and down at an increasing rate, in an NBA that increasingly values 3 point shooting efficiency combined with defense. Melo sucks.
Cowturd: Told last night that LeBron's wife, if she had the choice, it's Cleveland or LA. She wants stability. I was also told LeBron will have ultimate say & basketball will drive the decision.
