I wouldn't be shocked if we move Gordon + '18 2nd to the Hornets in return for No. 11 and 2019 2nd. That would give us a valuable 2nd Rd pick to package in any other trade this year...
Oh, if PG stays in OKC and Lebron comes to Houston, I will relish the tears of all the Angelenos who have been running their mouths...
Just for the hey of it, LAL builds the next SuperTeam or SuperNucleus at least and becomes relevant again, how many L's have they eaten over how many years to regain a semblance of relevance? And is that gap worthwhile (from a fanbase perspective)?
Nothing beats a ring when it comes to sports. People don't take teams seriously that can't win a ring. It's not fair, but it's the truth. Take Cleveland. They suffered for a while once Lebron left - but you think any of them regret that? They had 4 Finals appearances and a win. That will last some fans a lifetime.
#17 with Milwaukee is the highest I can project Gordon fetching. But what’s the value of 17 to us? A couple things I could consider. #17 plus future 1st(s) may be enticing enough for lebron. Maybe #17 is enough via a trade to acquire someone you feel is better than ego, say Kemba? Or maybe you are bringing back ariza Luc and everyone and can’t/won’t shed Ryan and so you cut salary at get cheaper value and have a target (tyreke) as a replacement via free agency already. Or most likely, Morey is checking the market value of his players and assets.
It would make sense to test the market for EG. He is the best bang for your buck kind of traceable asset we have at the moment.
Gordon doesn't even make a lot of money. Trading him for a pick is stupid. In a vacuum. If it happens, you'll know something exciting is coming down the pipe... eventually.
Yea I feel like Gordon should be worth a lot. Him going for like a second round pick seems so insulting to me
Perhaps unload Gordon + Anderson + '20 1st on a team (maybe take a filler NGT contract) to free up space for a free agent signing...
i'm thinking 11-14 for EG. not many players who can handle both sides of the ball for both the PG and SG positions in addition to being able to fill it up from outside AND break down a defense to finish in the paint. he also hit a ton of big shots late against GS, which should be fresh in other GM's minds. at 29, on a value contract, and relatively healthy 2 straight seasons now he's worth a late lotto pick imo
If we were to have 3 max contracts, it feels like 14 mil coming off the bench (+ any other taxes due to salary cap) is a lot. I don’t have extensive knowledge of how all of that works so I don’t have a hard stance on it. But it makes sense to evaluate the market for an excellent player on a reasonable contract, especially considering how much easier it could be to trade a pick than a player like Gordon - considering the possibility of a third team or a later trade being involved.
