    Hey ClutchFans,

I'll be going to Mexico City pretty soon to visit family and I want to show them some of our cuisine. Anyways, I want to take 10 pounds of marinated fajita and maybe a brisket to smoke.

Do you guys know if it's one of the prohibited items to bring. I'll be flying Aeromexico through Bush airport.I'm thinking of taking through a cooler. Everything I found online and through calling Aeromexico has been real generic information. I see no mention of uncooked meat.

The times I've gone to Mexico I haven't been able to find these delicacies.

Bobrekftw! Thanks. What a bummer but rules are rules.

you can't take meat back to the US, unless it's from Ireland. It will get confiscated at Customs...those bastids

true story (albeit it's what Customs told me in the '90s)

I had all of my fancy dried, packaged jerky from Africa confiscated in Atlanta. I told the customer guy "you'd think that dried, packaged, sealed jerky would be OK". He replied "yep". They probably enjoyed a jerky feast of warthog, kudu, and antelope.

yeah, I'm pretty sure they ate my $100/lb Spanish Lomo Iberico, too. bastids

Yeah the rule I was told by Customs in the '90s is the origin country must have stricter FDA laws than the US. Only Ireland does, because it's an island.

I'm pretty sure you can't bring meats from Asia.

Sounds like you didn't get stopped.

Did Customs stop you? Most times I walk right through with no one asking me anything.

When they stop you, you can't have meat or fruit.

It looks like bringing in beef from Asian countries is okay.

thx for this. Seems like maybe I was traveling in the early '90s at the very outbreak of media hype wrt BSE.

Yet, also looks like NIH has been questioning Asia since 2003.

    this

OP should consider he won't find "fajitas" in Mexico City, but there is fantastic food there.

I can give you the name of one of the World's Best restaurants for Mole, if you are interested. You can probably bring a sealed jar of that back. I'd pay you for that.

Mexico invented Mole like 500 yrs ago.

This is the best place I've encountered in Mexico City,,,the center of Mole (or nearby Puebla)

See if you can bring back a jar, OP!

A Mole mule, we could say!!!
