By next season - I hope CL can be a rotation worthy 3/4 with 15 minutes or so at each. Actually, I think of him being somewhat similar to a fav role guy in T-Pups gear, Ryan Gomes.
My cousin played with him on the Team Texas or whatever a few years back. I saw him at one of their tournaments down here...
If Scola could fix his shaky jumper, he would no doubt be the better prospect between the two. I'm disappointed he hasn't improved it. At least he's good enough to throw down 14 points in the 1st quarter and punish teams who decide to slack on him and focus on Yao. MrButtocks, West has a couple of inches on Landry and it shows. This is why he can post on a player like Scola and torch him. Landry is too short and will never have much of a back-to-the-basket game. xiki, LA is originally from Dallas. There is no way the Blazers will let him go. He is part of their "big 3".
Thanks for another great recap, DD. Here's an interesting espn piece on Aldridge. http://myespn.go.com/blogs/truehoop...-With-Care.html
My favorite Rockets' floor combination is some combination of Brooks, Barry, Wafer, Artest, and Scolandry with or without Yao. The problem as I see it is this. The players you and I have highlighted are primarily 2nd unit. Not sure what an optimal ratio should be. But I suggest taking a playoff caliber team and observing how many of their first 8 or 9 can't play uptempo transition. Spurs: Bonner and Fabio and possibly Finley on a back to back. But Duncan does have much better transition skills than Yao. And Duncan is usually at C in Q4. Ginobili and Parker are hands down better in transition than any one on the Rockets. Lakers? Don't see their equivalent of Battier, Alston, Hayes or Head. Celtics? Big Baby? Cavs? Z-man...but they haven't missed a beat with him injured. Probably Wally Z. Hornets? No one I would name. Magic? Battie and Redick. Your thoughts?
How about Paul Millsap? Landry is pretty much his clone; both 6'8, both incredibly strong, both high leapers, both limited in terms of their offense. But somehow, the paper boy is grabbing 16 boards and scoring big numbers...not just on bad teams but on the Lakers, Boston, etc. Maybe Landry can follow the same path?
DD, that's kinda lady-like with the fast typing. Maybe we should give you a new nickname like DaDaLady . Anyway let me throw out my criticism of shane before I go too far. I fired up the old hard drive ad pulled some memphis games to watch and when I say shane is worse offensively now than 4 yrs ago, believe that. I mean the guy used to put the ball on the floor. He used to shoot the mid range shot. In fact, he was a better defender then als even if Tracy was lighting him up. Not to mention he went to the ft line over 200 times vs 100 the first year he got here. So my question is, what does shane work on in the summer, spring or fall? Let it RIP.
If you have a live body, you're explosive, quick, and you have good touch around the basket, you can develop a potent back-to-the-basket game. Length is nice to have, but it's not a prerequisite to being a good post up player, in my opinion.
Maybe, but Landry hasn't yet shown me what Millsap has. Good comparison, though I think Millsap is stronger and more physical.
You're right. I can't think of a single other "good" team that is less effective in transition offense than the Rockets with their core rotation.
Is there website with a ranking of all 30 team's transition offense (or defense, for that matter)? I imagine the Rockets will be rather low on the fastbreak points list... though their overall "pace" (i.e. possessions per 48 minutes) is fairly average, as far as I remember.
one of the few dakota posts i agree with hehehee. i always trade for lamarcus in a season of nba 2k9 or live.
Well hopefully he will get the Shawn Marion treatment between Roy and Oden and he'll be more than happy to relocate somewhere else. I'm sure Yao and the whole Rox will be waiting with open arms
Hopefully the defender is standing in front of him, with hands in his face. If the defender actually stands in his face, he would likely be badly injured. His J would be effected, but I am pretty sure it's a flagrant foul.
