FYI... Chuck will likely be starting with Cuz and Jimmer did pretty well in scrimmages today (won 2-3)

I really want to see Jimmer play. His long range is going to be useful for clutch situations.

Watch the Jimmer play terrible D, shoot below 40% from the floor, but hit a bunch of game winners. He'd be like the Tebow of the NBA. I'm actually hoping that happens.

It should be interesting. I think Sacremento did the right thing for the franchise by getting a character guy like Chuck Hayes. I mean Tyreke and Cousins have a lot of talent but they need some toughness and discipline

In the first practice they were on two different teams... Reke was on the black (starting team obviously) and Jimmer was on white (second string)... but it will be interesting to see what happens if they try to run them together

So who exactly does that mean is on the purple (third string) team?? OH NOS THEY'S GOT ALIENS ON THE ROSTER!!!

this writer is no Jason Friedman but I like the premise of the article

As Kings practice neared its end for the morning, the team took part in a drill by which the players lineup on the endline as a teammate toes the free-throw line for a shot. If the given player hits the free throw, the team doesn’t run a sprint. If he misses, the running starts and the Kings cycle through players taking free throws.

Amidst the drill, Kings Coach Paul Westphal deftly sank left-handed shots until one ricocheted off the rim and into Jimmer Fredette’s running path. Quickly upon collecting the rebound, the Kings rookie – who was 10-12 feet on his way toward the court’s opposite end – scooped the ball with his right hand and flicked it over his shoulder – without looking – toward the hoop behind him.

As the ball banked in cleanly, Westphal smiled and teammates’ teasing soon ensued.

“’Of course you would make that shot,’” Fredette said of his cohorts’ words to him afterward.

Though he later admitted it was luck, within a 20-minute span, it was the second glimpse of the accuracy that garnered Fredette nationwide attention.

In just the previous drill, No. 7 drilled a long-distance shot over the outstretched arm of Westphal, as the rookie’s teammates called for a foul on their head coach.

“He’s a real good shooter,” teammate John Salmons said later. “What’s (impressed) me the most, though, is that he can find the open guy and make plays for other people.”

While Fredette continues to gain the respect of his teammates – and display his incredible shot-making ability – the new-look Kings are looking to show off a frontline that expects to be a force with which to be reckoned.

“I think that’s a monster frontline,” Chuck Hayes began. “If you can go with me, DeMarcus (Cousins), J.J. (Hickson), even throw Jason (Thompson) in there – man, that backboard should be ours. The offensive glass, the defensive rebounding – we should be monsters.”

After stating he ‘loves’ the team’s bigs, Hayes went on to explain he sees the Kings winning games in the season ahead, in large part, due to their defense.

Sacramento’s new center may be undersized, but as Kings Assistant Coach Keith Smart says, Hayes’ smarts and pedigree, in addition to his tremendous work ethic, will prove to be invaluable.

“What fans are going to see are the big numbers, the big picture things of how he helps a team win,” the assistant said. “What coaches and evaluators in the NBA see (are) the reasons why (the Houston Rockets) won so many games under the circumstances.”

“Yesterday, in the scrimmage, he probably single-handedly won for his team – just by getting in the lane, causing havoc and finding the open shooter,” Salmons said.

The Kings experienced – but quick to say he’s not a veteran – forward also said he’s been encouraged by the strong work ethic of his three younger teammates.

“You see Isaiah in here getting shots up after practice,” No. 5 said. “Jimmer is in here early, so they’re all trying to put their work in, trying to get better. When you’re a rookie coming in, you should be the first one in and the last one out. They all seem to have that work ethic.”

And one: When asked about his favorite Kings player as a teenager growing up in Modesto, Calif., Hayes had the following to say.
“Mich Richmond – he was a baaad man.”
