"With NBA commissioner David Stern threatening to erase months of negotiating progress by Wednesday if players refuse to accept the deal that is currently on the table, Kevin Martin -- an eight-year veteran who is owed $24 million over the next two seasons -- believes it's time for players to accept the proposal and get back to work."

it's nice to see our Rockets want to get back to playing

    Is that wrong?

Let's get the tweaks aligned and the players on the hardwood courts, not the
    judicial courts.

Kobe Bryant, Superstar, not rank and file player, is also saying to accept this CBA deal.

Kevin Martin has always struck me as a smart, pragmatic guy. Whatever the split on BRI is, even a few extra percent on his next contract is not going to make up for the $5-12 mil he'll lose this year from a 50 game season or no season.

So yeah, no kidding he wants the deal done.

If they don't accept it, they are selfish and greedy. If they do accept it, they are selfish and greedy... :l

Even if it was just money, I give props to anyone who at least realizes that there's more money in compromise than stubbornly sticking to their guns. The holdouts at this point aren't in it for the money, given they are fighting over half a billion over 6 years and stand to lose $1.9 billion with the cancellation of the season. The "future CBAs" argument is also a bit of a smokescreen given that if the owners attempt to seriously put the screws to the the players next time around, they can just say no.

Not to say that the owners aren't selfish, they certainly are, but they're selfish with all the leverage. When the love of the game and the money BOTH say end the lockout and only the players' pride opposes, it's probably time to end it.

(of course, the money DID say the players should cave from the start and they haven't, so yeah. We the fans are screwed.)

He's pretty reliable, used to be the beat writer for the Sacramento Kings and Sacramento Bee.

They will. This means it's OK to do so and a good number of other players agree with him.
