This is freaking cool and at least this is a step forward. Imagine recording our dreams...

Where's the part where he's calling Desperate Housewives cast members into his dressing room while he's buck naked?

Cal Researchers Pull Images from Brains

This is straight out of Sci-Fi. It is both scientifically cool and socially scary.

    Here's the video...

So does this mean they can record my dreams and I can watch them later?

Pretty cool as in absolutely terrifying. The state already has too much power as it is.

As I read it, not nearly yet. But that is a longer term possibility.

I think the computers in this current study need a lot of data from the actual movie (e.g. on the left in the movie) to try to make sense of the brain data (right.)

So, without knowing what it "should" look like, what they currently get from the brain would look like complete white noise slop (I exaggerate, but you wouldn't see, for instance, the girls at the Mansion prancing around a big top tent with Rick the Ruler in the middle with a whip. i mean... just for example. Ahem. Nevermind.)

The "reconstructed" clip isn't even reconstructed. It's just a composite of other videos the program recognizes as similar to the fMRI data.

If we can record dreams at will, then the next step would naturally be induce dreams at all.....

    Imagine the possibilities....
