Well, this is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen, but that may attribute to me being Indian, although I will still recommend this to all of you

I'm not Indian, but have seen it. One of the best of the year, highly recommended.

I really, really enjoyed this film. There was so much color and life to it. By far the best film I had seen all year.

instead of the * you have to use spoiler and then /spoiler

of course in the brackets ...great now a mod has to edit since i dont think you can yet.

as for me i took my parents yesterday to go see this and they both loved it and I did too. While the Dark Knight was probably my favorite movie this year, so was this and they are two different genres so i think its ok to say that.

there were some parts of the movie though that made me cringe, but sadly that is sometimes the harsh brutality of poverty in india. i am pretty sure most indian people will go see the movie but i think its a movie that everyone can see and really enjoy. definitely one of the better movies i have seen in a real long time not just this year.

i thought the child actors did a real good job

just thought it was weird how they had different color backgrounds for the subtitles. and also the soundtrack for the movie was pretty good too for those who are into fusion type indian music

Saw this tonight, and I thought it was up there with Batman for movie of the year. I highly recommend it to anyone. Tremendous rags-to-riches story about love.

I have a couple of questions though for those who may have paid closer attention.

How did Jamal get on the game show?
What city was Jamal in during his work at the Communications Company?
What was the significance of Salim's last quote? Did it have anything to do with Islam?

    Thanks.

I am looking forward to watching "The Wrestler" when I get a chance. I heard this one is just as good.

somethign that nobody who saw the movie (who isn't indian, lol) ever gets: the guy in the beginning who gives the autograph from the helicopter is the same guy as the game show host 20 yrs later. It's supposed to be Amitabh Bachchan - the biggest male star in Bollywood (who actually really did host the show, except in India they call it "who wants to be a crorepati?"?)

Sam, I didn't know you were Indian. Anyway, I do know that Amitabh Bachchan used to host the show but the guy that hosted the show in the movie was not Amitabh in real life or in character. It was played by Anil Kapoor and his character in the movie was Prem Kumar. I doubt it was even loosely based on Amitabh Bachan since Prem Kumar was sort of villified in the movie.

Oh I just figured it was supposed to be Amitabh since he looked the same and since he hosted the real show. it would have made it a way better movie if so when his childhood hero turned out to be a dick.

music by AR Rahman.. back here in India.. he is considered the god of music by the current generation..

and he really lives up to that title every time he comes up with an album..
