Pretty much sums up the Republican rule of the last 8 years, no? Dress up nice and throw some glib statements to the press while death and carnage take place. I'm having a tough time thinking of a more appropriate symbolic end to this election season.
I'm sure she was trusting her mavericky instincts and thought it would make her look like some kind of badass nonchalant frontierswoman - when in reality it makes her look like a combination of an idiot and a sociopath.
What's funny is that the guy slaughtering the turkey, who I'm sure has no political experience, knows this isn't going to look good and is trying so hard to wait or to cover up what he's doing from the cameras.
I always find myself thinking that Sarah Palin is one of the most unwitting idiots to ever be hoisted upon the national stage. Anybody holding out hopes that this woman can ever become the face of the Republican Party, especially in 2012, is delusional.
I'd give her p.r. instincts a zero here but, good grief, this woman has probably gutted and cleaned fish as well as field dressed wild game since she was a little girl. Not sure this makes her an idiot and it clearly doesn't make her a sociopath. Much ado about nothing.
Another great post! She has no chance to be anything in 2012. I don't understand why some Dems here fear Palin. If anything, a partisan Dem should WANT the GOP to put her atop the ticket. But Republicans aren't that stupid. The only thing keeping Palin afloat is media infatuation. Soon that will subside.
It is pretty funny, unless you're a member of PETA. I agree a bad PR move but I wouldn't consider this a reflection on her being a sociopath.
This is true. She is pretty likeable if she was just a friendly neighbor with simplistic views. It is the presidential thing that is incredible. For all I know the average Republican goes for stuff like this. I wouldn't be surprised to see this reenacted as a SNL skit.
I didn't say it made her one - I said it made her look like one, just like when Charlton Heston would wave his gun around and chant "cold dead hands!" he seemed like a demented old lunatic (which he may well have been, who knows). As far as her being an idiot - that's already documented, not much more evidence is needed. It will be interesting to see her govern with $50 a barrel oil. Once those royalty checks dry up I have a feeling her approval rating takes more of a dive than it already has.
