Just caught the end of the last segment. Here's a terse recap:

    on draft day trade

battier for gay was morey's trade
    cd & jvg approved
les felt they should have gotten more
important that they got out of a contract (swift)

    [on players who didn't play]

    vspan

rookies are a difficult process, few ready to contribute
    wait and see going forward

    novak

mgmt felt he should have played ahead of other guys
    jvg disagreed

    synder

    hasn't found niche
    has talent and ability
    got along well with him
has to learn the game better
very good without the ball, should flourish with adelman

    [bonzi]

    great playoffs against spurs
    hurt much of year
lost out on a ton of money (36m to 2.8m) and didn't mentally recover from that
from jan on, no problems other than performance
luther played well enough to be first guy off bench
bonzi needed to get healthy physically and mentally
suspects bonzi would have a good year with adelman

Les is right. No matter you opinion on Battier, we gave up a lottery pick for him as well as a bench contributor. He isn't an all-star. We should have gotten their pick or something back in addition to the limited role player we got.

    Nice one.

That's probably the most frank I've heard from JVG since he was our coach.

That'd be rich we get Sacremento's ex coach and send our ex coach to Sacremento.

    jvg was always pretty honest.

maybe they should have got more (a second round pick this year sounds good about now)

When he is not coaching, Grumpy actually is a nice guy.

He killed me though when I heard him defending Reefer, and talked about the point guard in Orlando "their point guard is small and doesn't run the team very well"

    Ha Ha Ha!

I think there is a lot of people that thought and still think that! I hope that Rockets can buy an extra pick.

I found it interesting that JVG said we wouldn't have drafted Gay anyway. The Rox thought Gay wasn't a good player and wouldn't develop. Instead, if they hadn't traded fore Battier, they would have drafted Thabo Sefolsha.

Yeah a lot of us (myself included) were upset by the trade more for the fact that it seems like we didn't get much value than anything else.

I really like JVG. I wish things would have worked out better than they did. His interviews were top notch. I also caught him at a few Astros games and was impressed. He was always in shorts and a t-shirt and acted like such a normal guy.

Hope for the best for him wherever he ends up doing whatever he ends up doing.

Maybe he could take over at U of H!

yeah, i remember hearing that b-roy was #1 and sefolsha was next on their list. That could have been a great pick, sefolsha looks like he will be a dang good player.

yeah, its great to have had a coach that loves the city.

Sefalosha looks like Doug Christie to me. Great D, spotty O, good quick feet.

Morey said that immediately after the Gay trade on draft day when 610 had a live broadcast. He also severly dismissed Reddick as an option with the 8th pick.
