Has this been done recently? If so, please lock/delete.

Just want to get the opinions of people at this point in the form of a poll. Battier's individual stats don't look any better, but I think his impact on the team is significant.

I still don't like the trade. I like Battier but we just gave up to much.

No we didn't. We gave up a worthless Swift and his $5mil per year contract and a draft pick who some think might have potential in this league; for a guy his does all the little things on a team to help them win. A+ trade in my book!

And yes this has been revisited and re-revisited just recently.

For the second option: obviously, we'd be better off "if we traded for a better player." But I think you know what I mean.

If there was a poll along with it, do you know the link? I can't find it.

Battier's better for the Rockets now, but Gay is going to be better than Battier eventually, IMO. I don't know if it qualifies as being "really bad for the team" to not have him because it's questionable as to whether or not Gay would progress as much being a role player here whereas he has more freedom on a Grizzly team with much lower expectations this year.

But yeah I'd like to have had the draft pick to soften the blow.

Sam, please don't massage this thread into another MJ-Aslton debate.

    So far so good.

    TIA.

Would you have traded Novak in place of Gay? I probably would. But I think Novak will be a good fit for the Rockets for many years to come.

Does it really matter if a poll was with it? Its the same content which is all that matters.

Where's "we're really gonna suck in five years, but what the hell"? That's the box I'd check.

I voted for "I'm glad we got Batter, but we really screwed up by not getting Memphis's draft pick as well."

shoot, im really happy with battier actually. but who here thinks that if we got battier and kyle lowry, that THAT woulda been the steal of the draft? shoot, him and novak? yikes!

I beg to dissagree with your box. In 5 year Yao, TMac & Battier will be 30 to 33 years old. They should be still performing at a high level barring injury. Novak will be the next Larrybird(shootingwise). Vspan & Head will be very good at the guard spots. We should be title contenders. At the very least, we will not suck.

if the last five years are any measure, we will still suck in five years

I agree with the last sentence, but woahhhhhhh don't be comparing Novak to Bird.

Just watching each one of Stromile's very ugly misses on the same, old move against the Rockets last week made the trade look like a steal.

you see absolutely nothing better about this year's rockets?

what makes you think this year will be a repeat of last year?

04-05 was pretty good, 03-04 was not too shabby either. up 2-0 on mavs? that sucked?

yao and tmac together really sucks, the whole league is standing in line to play the rockets.

if we would've gotten thier pick as well it would've been a nice deal.

lowry, ager, millsap, and others were still available.

I'm glad to see that more folks' opinions have shifted regarding trading for Shane! :)
