After the years of listening to the VY fan boys, seeing this makes my heart jump into my throat for half a second every time until I remember it's Wilfork:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Vince Wilfork two-year Texans deal, $9 million, $5M gtd, $3M bonus, salaries $1M, $4M, 2015 base gtd, $1 million March 24, 2015 bonus</p>— Aaron Wilson (@RavensInsider) <a href="https://twitter.com/RavensInsider/status/578173722483433473">March 18, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Because we're seeing this a lot, let me take this opportunity to remind everyone that Ed Reed had a serious injury when the Texans signed him. I think people forget that. Wilfork is, far as we know, healthy. And, unlike Reed, he doesn't play a position that requires skills that age can take from you: speed, agility... Heck, he's two years younger than Reed was. If Wilfork has gas in the tank, he monumentally impacts the team.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Vince Wilfork's request before signing with <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Texans?src=hash">#Texans</a>: "Somebody’s got to get me a smoker at the facilities (that) says ‘For Vince Wilfork.’ "</p>— Brian T. Smith (@ChronBrianSmith) <a href="https://twitter.com/ChronBrianSmith/status/579044121567850496">March 20, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Wilfork was joking. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Wilfork had two messages for <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Texans?src=hash">#Texans</a> fans. I wonder why Ian Rapoport thinks Wilfork will embrace mentoring Nix? On another note, battles are won in the trenches and Texans fans have been clamoring for help for Watt on that line for two years - now we have it. This one move could be huge for this team.
Because he has a history of taking guys under his wing like that. I've yet to hear anything but good things about Wilfork the teammate.
