I know it's blasphemy, but I can't help checking in on a few Jazz games and watching Gobert (and Favors) do work. The team and individual numbers back up the eye test. IMO, he's been the stand out DPOY candidate at any point in the year (Bogut has had some nice games as well). My question is, with a month remaining has he done enough to win the award?
He is unquestionably the best defender in the league right now. But.... He didn't play as much in the first half of the year. Deandre Jordan by default.
Ariza should really get some consideration. Not saying he should win it, but a lot of our transformation into a good defensive team is due to him.
I feel like Ariza will get (at least) 2nd team all-NBA defense honors. As for Jordan, you can't ignore that the Clippers team defense is a joke. Same goes for Davis
That's a typical knee jerk. He is tall and has an amazing wing span, hence he is a good rebounder and shot blocker. But for this season? Jordon is still a much better defender than him. Couple nights ago, Tarik Black is having the game of his career against Gobert and dunks after dunks.
Beats the heck out of me, but I sure wish he wore a Rockets uniform. If he stays healthy, he'll probably win DPOY eventually, if not this season.
If he had started the season starting instead of Kanter, I would say yes. He's probably the most deserving right now, but due to games and minutes played he won't get it. Next year doe.
Knee jerk. Have you seen Utah's defensive numbers. ok I knee jerked a bit....but seriously look how long that guy is!!!
Ariza was great earlier in the season, but his DefRtg has really fallen off. If I remember correctly it was 2 or 3 pts better than the team Rtg(95.2 to team 97.9 before Jan 1st=31 games). From Jan 1 to now(37 games) it's 103.6 to team 101.4. Post All-Star his rating is 101.1 compared to team 98.2. Full season it's 99.5 barely better than the team average of 99.8.
Very funny, it's actually the other way round and there are articles about companion these two and especially showing a light on DeAndre's impact on defense. Swap the names in your post and it's correct.
Stop talking out of your ass. Gobert is allowing only 40% at the rim while Jordan is mediocre at 49%. http://nyloncalculus.com/stats/rim-protection/ Ibaka and Bogut deserves it more than Jordan.
Now that everybody is on board, please remember that Kwame was once again ahead of the curve: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=246057
Aside from the fact that Kwame is always correct, as show again above, please also consider that . Kwame is always correct, as show again above.
