Awesome first show. I don't understand all the hate Simmons gets. All the stuff he puts out is just entertaining.
imo, ppl who hate on Simmons both focus on what they disagree with and also never watched Simmons first giving us his NBA Draft Diaries watching with his dad. Plus, I only read Simmons wrt to the NBA. Not sure if he is out of his element outside of bball. But, imso, he's clearly the best at what he does for NBA stuff, and that's why Jalen joined him, and JVG was also the first guest. JVG is always a great guest, but I always thought it came with his respect and comfort level for the hosts. We can laugh at Houston radio hosts, but he clearly likes the guys who he calls in to. And he clearly likes Jalen and Simmons. Hell, I think they should just stop with guests and make it a three man team for good. Surely they can work this around JVG's travel schedule.
The only competition Grantland has is The Starters. It's crazy there aren't more basketball shows in this format on TV. Look how popular Open Court is; just some guys (HOFers but still) sitting around talking like they would at a barbershop. simple. genius.
just realized this video cap didn't strip out the commercials and I've been sitting through them for 40 minutes. somebody slap me for stupidity.
It doesn't sound like it'll weekly. Per ESPN, there's going to be 18 episodes that air throughout the season all the way through the Finals, with more episodes planned for the NBA Draft and Free Agency as well. It doesn't say how it'll divvy them out quite yet.
