The T-mac scenario immediately came into my mind when the Carmelo story broke. Probably just sour grapes, because we went through so much drama with Tracy... I'm almost hesitant now about the deal if it means he's here and he's here for 5 years. Not that I think Carmelo will break down, its just a huge commitment and I'm not sure I'm ready to go through that again
Yeah, I have to agree 100% with the article. I mean it's exciting to know Carmelo is considering Houston, not like Bosh or Stoudemire. But we have to face reality, Carmelo still has to decide if he wants to make it happen to come to Houston. Only then should we REALLY start celebrating.
Stop posting trade speculation threads, noob! Seriously, though, nice summary. Reasonable and balanced take on the situation.
great article Clutch. I'm not buying the Carmelo to Houston hype. I also believe Houston as the favorable destination depends on the health of Yao Ming. Remember Pippen/Charles wanted to play with Dream. When Artest came here, he didn't realize it was Crutch City not Clutch City so he left for LA. I do believe if Yao or Tmac or both were healthy, he would have signed with the Rockets. As far as Carmelo, he's eyeing New York for sure, his wife is from there, he got married there and he's from the East Coast. As far as Bosh, I believe he was going with Wade/LeBron way before Morey even made a pitch to him. With all this being said, I'm sure Morey will surprise us with something and the next season will be pretty good for the Rockets.
Great read and amazing photoshop. When I read this line I laughed: Then I thought it would have been even funnier if it read:
I definitely have some trepidation about the whole 'Melo situation and the scary parallels to TMac. But I've said it before and I'll say it again. Any scenario that sends Carmelo Anthony to Houston, and somehow DOESN'T involve trading Brooks, Martin, Yao, or Scola is a HUGE move.
If Carmelo is going to get traded in February, then it's really important for the rockets to have great start in the season.
