u funny. but very wrong. His pluses will be much higher then parsons. parsons will score more, but that's only half the game. Ariza would shut him down one on one and soon enough we will see that. First explosion: Ariza steals the ball from Parsons for a solo slam. Counting on it.
Agreed... Generally speaking I think offense is overrated and defense a bit underrated... But then team fit is most important of all.. Certainly Parsons would be a better fit for some teams, and Ariza for others... Parsons would be great for Memphis for example...Maybe Chicago... Most other contending teams though I would imagine would prefer Ariza.
this deal just keeps getting better and better with butler wanting $12mill a year & leonard & wanting $18mill, what a steal !
Hell of a deal. We've got him for 3 more years after this one. The only difference is those guys are younger and getting better. Their respective teams are also paying for potential. Ariza is what he is. He's probably not gonna get much better than what he is now but that's exactly what we need since Dwight's window isn't getting any bigger.
The easiest question to differentiate Parsons and Ariza is, how would the Rockets have done with Ariza in against Portland last year instead of Parsons? how does Ariza match up with Batum? At this point the answer should be obvious. Ariza doesn't even need to be shooting the 59% from three that he currently is shooting. The defense and rebounding he brings has made our team that much more well rounded. Tomorrow night will be the first time we see it against a decent team.
Can we stop comparing Parsons to Ariza and just accept that Ariza has been great for us and Parsons will be great for the Mavs.
The problem seems to be that people don't really categorize its value, unlike offense, defense's importance from individual defense isn't equal. It goes something like anchor, primary wing, point guard, other big, other wing, and also the ability to switch around (for example, moving curry to the other wing, and the other wing to the point), so your value in real terms to a defense is position dependent. On offense points are points.
Lol I remember when everybody used to cringe when he shot the ball around 30% from 3. I still don't understand how the hell somebody who goes 8 seasons shooting below 30% from 3 just turns into a 40% 3pt shooter out of thin air.
If Ariza continues to play like this for the rest of his contract, someone will overpay for him. I'm looking at you, Cuban!
