Rather an exciting YYYYYEEEESSSS Nobody can say NO to the Brow ..... JVG will make that team an elite defensive one.....but do not forget players on offense, JEFF!!
^ Did you forget that the Pels are in our division? Also, if he can't coach the Rockets, I'd much rather have him commentate
If I was him I would have rather wanted to coach durant and wb but I guess the injuries prob brought back some bad memories.
His decision could be related to the proximity to Houston. This sucks if only for the fact that ABC and ESPN broadcasts will suffer from his absence.
But he told Zack Lowe that expressing interest to coach the Pelicans is the last thing he would do out of respect to Monty Williams.
That, and there's a good chance both are gone from OKC within 5 years. Hell, OKC may have to bottom out again to draft high enough to get future stars... nobody wants to play there.
He said that it would it would not come out of his own mouth PUBLICLY, not that other people can't report on it.
Did you forget we have Les Alexander as our owner. Even if he came back, Les and JVG was not on the best of terms. And JVG would have interferred with our transfer and trade politics. Morey would have not enjoyed it as well. There is a reason they hired a 'Yes man' MCHALE
None of that addresses having to deal with AD + an elite defensive coach 4 times a year (plus playoffs)
Does that mean JVG is going to bring a whole bunch of EX-Knicks to the Pelicans? Charles Oakley? Patrick Ewing? Mark Jackson?
I understand that. But you have to understand that JVG is a coach at heart. He does well at commentating which I applaud to the max, but he cannot stay like that forever. There are only that many offers in the NBA. Having the chances to coach AD that is thrilling for any coach..... He will still root for the Rockets when the Pels do not face them.
I don't know why you think JVG is so loyal to the Rockets. He brought glory to the Knicks and was on Riley's staff when we beat them in the Finals.
