JVG reps H-Town, he still lives here in the River Oaks area. His daughter when to high school in the area and graduated here.
I hope he takes it, because knowing JVG-- he'll over prioritize defense and Davis will have to take up the role as a main scorer (especially playing next to Asik).
Yea sure, i wouldn't disagree with that statement necessarily. River oaks is about 2 miles form west u, i'd said that's pretty near especially for Houston.
Who would even be on JVG's staff? Thibs isn't going back to being an assistant, Clifford & Ewing are with Charlotte. I guess Mike Malone and Adrian Griffin?
People became dumb about short distances between places. Considering I could hit all West U, River Oaks, Greenway Plaza and the Med Center all in the same 10-minute commute from my wife's office to mine, this is literally one of the dumbest threadjacks ever.
But you do acknowledge that they are all separate areas, regardless of their proximity. This is pretty much how it is in every other major big city in the north/east... Houstonians just aren't as accustomed to it thanks to how spread out most parts of this city are.
Pelicans interview Jeff Van Gundy for coaching vacancy The New Orleans Pelicans’ coaching search is gathering momentum, a process that included a formal interview Tuesday with Jeff Van Gundy, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Van Gundy, one of the NBA’s top available coaches, and New Orleans officials met in the Bay Area to discuss the opening. The sides had spoken over the phone, but this was the first face-to-face meeting, league sources said. For now, New Orleans officials and Van Gundy are beginning the process of getting to know each other. Van Gundy had traveled to the Bay Area for his role as a television analyst for the Western Conference finals. New Orleans general manager Dell Demps met with another candidate, Golden State assistant Alvin Gentry, in the Bay Area prior to the start of the Western Conference finals. It is possible Demps will meet with Gentry a second time in the near future, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Golden State officials will only allow interviews between playoff series. New Orleans officials have been active in making calls on Van Gundy, researching his successful seasons as head coach of the Houston Rockets and New York Knicks. Van Gundy, 53, has been a target of several franchises since leaving the Houston Rockets in 2007.
Hard to believe JVG is only 53. Seems like he's been around forever. I think it's about time Jeff gets back to coaching. He'll enjoy coaching Anthony Davis. I just hope that he doesn't run AD into the ground like he did with Yao.
So, JVG coached the chinese national team as well??? Yao was going to get injured eventually (and it actually happened under Adelman's watch)... at least JVG turned him into a dominant center in the process.
I thinks the way JVG drove Yao shortened his career significantly, but that's just my opinion. Thibodeau is about to get fired in Chicago for doing similar things -- running his star players into the ground, but that's just Chicago management's opinions as well.
