So this off-season has gone right off the tracks. Unless Les has agreed to a rebuild and not be competitive, things are looking bad for the Rockets and particularly for Morey. Is Morey on the hot seat?
Morey getting fired at the end of this debacle would be the cherry on top of the sundae. I have never laughed so hard at something so tragic.
My gut says that Les has finally seen the light...but my gut's been wrong before. And besides, I think Morey was recently signed to a five-year extension.
The Toyota Center is going to be ABANDONED this season. Except for maybe the Red Rowdy section and the rich corporate douchebags that may occasionally show up once in a while in the lower bowl. Les will fire Morey for not filling up his pocket.
That's what I mean--Les may have finally decided to "get bad to get good." He just wouldn't say that in public outright, for PR reasons; after all, if you tell the fans that you're going to lose a lot of games, who will buy tickets and generate revenue? Now we just have to see if we actually do wind up something like 30-52 once the season's over. Got to develop the young guys and build a foundation for the future...that's what tanking is.
I don't understand how this offseason has been bad at all. Everybody else is getting better and the Rockets are getting worse. Isn't this exactly what we wanted?
Someone explain to me how this team is going to be appreciably worse next year because we lost our back-up PG and SG (Dragic & Lee) and replaced our starting defensive-minded center with another? If anything, we add up to 4 talented rookies (Lamb, White, Jones, and D-Mo) but obviously no game-changers. I think we marginally improved for the coming year (meaning we'll be drafting between 12-14 again) but will continue to improve as the young guys get PT & grow-up. A lot of people have been begging for a rebuild...well here it is.
So if Motiejunas, Royce White, Jeremy Lamb and Omar Asik come in and actually play great with Kyle Lowry, Chandler Parsons and whoever else is on the team then the Toyota center will stay empty?
Unless a major trade/signing is made, which is very doubtful now: Scola, Martin and probably even Lowry need to be gone. Just go with young talent on cheap contracts. See who stands out. Total rebuild.
We lost a bunch of pieces. Camby, Lee, Dragic. While gaining absolutely nothing except Asik who the Bulls fans are laughing at us for overpaying.
