Weird. Why does a 48-year old former professional athlete have a heart attack? Did he have some undiagnosed prior condition or something? Hope he pulls through.

Genetics, diet, or drugs. That's pretty much all that could explain it.

(They also link certain gut bacteria and gum inflammation to heart disease now.)

Yes and he was probably the strongest player in the NBA at the time.

Not too many guys like him, ever.

    What is Terry doing?

Why does Harden struggle against this team?

Uh....Shaq was in the league at that time.

Mason had a strong base, low center of gravity and excellent lateral movement which made him excellent defender in the post. The rules back then allowed him to push off with both hands on the back but it were the other three things which I just mentioned that made him the defender he was, not just brute strength.

I saw him (and Oakley) during the all-star weekend here a couple weeks ago. He was pushing 400 lbs easily. Enormous. Oakley on the other hand, looked like a distance runner.

Sad stuff. Was really nice to people who came up to him to chat with him, even though hes basically the meanest looking dude that's ever lived.

Damn shame. He was a monster back in the 90's. He actually guarded Dream a lot in that series.

If he survives, he'll likely need a heart transplant. I wish him and his family all the best

Dude looked scary as hell back in the day. I would love someone like him on this Rockets team today.

    I wish him the best.
