..somehow end up winning the draft lottery (a big IF), do you see them keeping the top rookie pick or would you rather use him in a package to acquire an already experienced all star(realistic ones) or would you rather keep the top pick and build the team around him? I know how the odds are stacked against this happening given our percentenges of landing a top 3 pick but honestly, aren't we already due for some kind of luck? P.S. I already miss our team and hoping To finally have significant changes/upgrades in the offseason.
No team in the league will trade the number one pick, except for maybe the Nets. Can't do much better than Anthony Davis on a long term rookie deal.
That's right. Dragic Davis That's a great core that can be built around especially with all our other assets. I'd prefer that to Dwight/DWill. Dream on.
well they have a future.... but nobody would take Davis over Howard right now. and Dragic has not half accomplished what Dwill did.
Howard is coming off of back surgery. No one would trade Davis other than the Nets, and that's because they may lose Dwill for nothing if they don't.
Most rebuilding teams would. Howard just had back surgery and may just leave after a year. Can't see him signing an extension with any of the lottery teams except maybe the Nets. It's too great a risk to take.
I'd probably take Howard. But that #1 pick would be locked-in at a relatively low cap number for awhile which means we'd have the flexibility to really buildout a team.
This team is doomed to mediocrity for the foreseeable future. That won't change until management decides it wants to win versus just be good enough to sell seats.
I think if they win the first pick they keep it. If it's the 2nd or 3rd they might try to trade it for two young players (like Derrick Williams and Pekovic for the pick in Martin) or something like that- I have a feeling that Morey doesn't have faith in Andre Drummond.
Lol he's pretty damn good. Unless the Rockets are getting Dwight Howard (who signs an extension with us) then I don't see how you trade Davis.
This pretty much should have locked the thread There are very few exceptions like LeBron, Durant, Wade... But, that's not happening.
Morey has already indirectly called Anthony Davis a franchise changer. I doubt he would trade the pick
Oh, you've seen him play in an NBA game? Please, tell me the lotto numbers for Tuesday in your crystal ball.
I will Davis over Howard. Dwight is older, coming off back surgery, going to be a free agent, had proven he cannot carry a team in the playoffs and has attitude problems.
