The McHale/Harden dynamic is eerily reminiscent of Rudy T/Steve Francis

Some would argue the talent is in the getting famous in the first place. Ever take a marketing class?

i did take marketing classes in college. i'd argue that marketing ability for any individual is indeed a talent - if it does NOT mean packaging sth. and trying to make people believe that particular sth. is some thing that it is really not.

This. but before I continue, I want to commend DarkHorse on his post. The similarities are definitely there and he makes a good point.

Now, having said that. Ziggy is on the money here. The Franchise teams were devoid of talent. Consider that the #2 was Cuttino Mobley, quite possibly the most useless, reckless, stupid shot-taking, wannabe supestar hack that has ever put on a frigging Rockets uniform.

Wanted to add. I LOVED Franchise up until his last day here. One of my favorite guys ever. You NEVER doubted his heart was in the game and the team. More than I can say for some of the guys on this team.

The team improved when Jeremy Lin was sent to the bench. Same with Josh Smith.

Sending Lawson to the bench is the last chance for McHale to save his job, and maybe this team as currently constructed.

Any trades at this point are going to be at pennies on the dollar. It's a tough position to be in.

    Too soon?

A lot of people want to pin this season on Morey, for his acquisitions and his offensive philosophy. I buy the offensive philosophy beef to a degree, but that's not the issue.

This is on Harden. He's becoming the worst kind of superstar, filling up the stat sheet to the exclusion of the rest of the team so he can pound his chest and say "it's not me." It's unfortunate, but the ride is over.

This is probably an overstatement, but this team might not be much worse, and could even be better as constructed without Harden. We'd see a very different game out there than all this hero ball.

Last season Harden bought into the team concept, and the team as a whole bought into a defense first mindset. That's long, long gone.

I remember the "get riddy of rudy" sentiment.

To me, the obvious problem was not the coach but the star.

I am not sure what it is this time around. But the OP's point is well taken. If a star player is uncoachable, then the team is doomed. I hope this is not the case with Harden.

I am beginning to believe this star player is uncoachable, is playing for own stats when he chooses, not a team player and doesn't care about team goals.

    Ouch!

But JVG got the most out of Yao and TMac.
