Nash wasn't a lock down defender. He was in fact a bad defender.

The difference was that Nash was a truly dominant PG in his MVP years... he led the NBA in assists for multiple seasons and it wasn't close. He racked up 15.5 ppg and 11.5 Assists per game. The #2 player was Baron Davis at 8.9 Assists per game. He was the FIRST PG to average 11.5 apg in a DECADE. And he averaged 50% FG% for the season.

Nash - #1 in assists, highest APG since John Stockton in 94/95.
Harden - #5 in scoring. Nice, but not amazing.

When Harden does something comparable to Nash's season, then you can start comparing Nash and Harden.
