All of the sleep books out there.

Nobody told me that babies need to learn how to sleep without soothing techniques after around 4 months.

Good to see you back posting in here. The thread isn't the same without ya!

BTW...have you ever read Cryptonomicon? If so, what are your thoughts?

Finally finished Chuck Klosterman's Eating the Dinosaur. I really enjoyed his essays. What is his next best book to read?

Also started Think Like a Freak by Levitt and Dubner.

It feels good to be back and to be reading some quality books again!

I have read Cryptonomicon, and I had a problem with Stephenson's writing style. He's wildly inconsistent from chapter to chapter, which is a good thing when it works and painful when it doesn't. The story, however, is utterly engrossing and has stuck with me almost 15 years after reading it. I know several people who have said it's their all-time favorite book and while I might disagree, I can understand their reasoning.

I'm trying to grind through Dune

I just can't seem to get fully invested in it :(
    Has anyone read it?

I tried reading that once before and just couldn't make it very far. I will have to give Dune another shot at some point, I suppose.

I just finished reading Larry Niven's Neutron Star. That book was pretty outstanding. I will definitely have to get some more of the Known Space books.

Just started reading Parasite Eve by Hideaki Sena. Looking forward to finishing this, then jumping into the two Parasite Eve PS1 games.

I just finished Assail. It was much better than I expected. The best book by ICE so far IMHO

Hang in there. Is he/she sleeping better now?

    I just started reading
    [IMG]

A dutch book about the development of the brain of children. I really like it (especially with my first daughter being 1.5 and my second Daughter expected to be born within 2 months:grin:)

I got 300+ pages in and gave up. This is the 2nd time I've tried. I just don't like his writing style. Its a shame...the story seemed like it had some legs.

    Now reading:

Only about 80 pages in, but really liking it so far. The last WWII book I read that was this good (and very similar in writing style) was "The Last Battle" by Cornelius Ryan. I'm not surprised it won the Pulitzer Prize.

I've read it 3 times, the first time when it came out. Keep grinding! I promise you that when you get hooked, which will happen if you're a SF fan, you won't be able to put it down. Hang in there! :)-

How far have you progressed (Story wise). Dune is a great book, if you get invested. But at times it can be a bit slow IIRC (I read it 16 years ago).

If you do get invested also read Dune messiah and Children of Dune but stop after those 2 books. The series drops off quite a bit after those 3 books.

I read Fall of Giants. I'll get to this one eventually.

Assuming of course that you read it....How was Winter of the World compared to Fall of Giants?
