War on Illness? Sounds better than a War on Drugs or a War on Terrorism. Now if we'd just focus on illness and poverty here in the States.

Whatever. Sarah Palin has been saying the president should invade Ebola for like a month now.

A few articles I've read this week say we need to attack ebola now while it is geographically limited. If it spreads beyond the region it could much harder to stop. It's as scary as getting beheaded so action is warranted.

The problem will be that the local shaman and warlords are going to claim that the aid workers are indiscriminately killing off the locals and it is going to appear that that is true. It will be a very ugly story no matter what.

Which is much easier to do if Ebola isn't among the problems they face.

Reminds me of the small town mayors from Louisiana who were b****ing about to CNN about Obama not sending them oil containment booms/devices whatever to cover their entire shoreline during Deepwater Horizon leak - that's becuase the booms were all out at sea keeping the oil contained in a much smaller area, geniuses.

That's great news! The situation cries out for massive international aid. As the greatest power on the planet, this kind of response is what I have been expecting. Without the outside world stepping up, the death toll could reach into the hundreds of thousands. No joke. That is unacceptable. Also, the longer this goes on, the greater the possibility that it will mutate into something far more serious, in my opinion.

I'd like to add that I think we have a particular reason to aid Liberia due to our history there.

Are these medical specialists? Combat troops makes no sense. Are we going to "gun down" the virus?
