I'm seriously considering starting Rainey tonight over Le'Veon Bell. Especially with those stats he put up last year against possibly a worse Atlanta defense.
I'd probably go Lacy, Bell, and Rainey. I'm not a big fan of any of these options, though. You have a lot of bad matchups. In one league I am sitting Lacy this week. If Rainey is the starter I do think that one could really pay out. Lacy and Bell are pretty safe in that they should put up something but I wouldn't expect either to put up big numbers.
I'm advising all clients to buy Rainey right now. He could be a solid RB2 for the rest of the season. As for Doug Martin SELL SELL SELL
i have vereen too and i'm benching him. he has a hurt shoulder and i think ridley is going to have the majority of snaps against the poor oakland run d.
just traded Cobb/Decker for L. Bell/K. Wright my new team QB: Brady RB: Forte RB: Ball WR: J. Jones WR: K. Wright WR: R. White TE: Jordan Cameron/Martellus Bennett Flex: L. Bell my RBs all have extremely tough matchups this week
Actually, right now is the time to buy Doug Martin. His value couldn't be lower unless he has a major injury.
DO NOT BE LIKE THIS MISINFORMED MAN. My insiders are telling me that Martin is FINISHED. BOOM! IN THE TANK! DUMP DUMP DUMP DUMP. DUMP NOW OR LOSE YOUR SHIRT.
Montee Ball is playing Seattle this week. I start Rainey with confidence. Absolute confidence. I predict 110 yards and a TD tonight.
Damn, that's some dedication. I will start this man and hope to god that your right. Go Bobby Rainey!
he's been playing like garbage even when he's healthy and he's shown he's injury prone. rainey has outperformed him
Why are you ignoring their competition? Against Carolina, Doug Martin had 9 carries for 9 yards. Rainey had 4 carries for 12 years. They both had bad games against a top defense.
That's fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I personally have no problem offering a combination of guys like Asiata, T.Richardson, L.Miller, D.Brown, and S.Jackson. If I find myself relying on players of this caliber, then I've already lost.
I agree with this. Doug Martin can be had right now for chump change. This is EXACTLY like the RG3 vs Kirk Cousins situation. If both healthy, and you HAD to have a Washington QB (not sure why you'd do this), but you have to pick up RG3. Same thing here, as long as Doug Martin is healthy, he's going to get the Lion's share of carries. I think he's worth a shot.....ONLY if you can get him cheaply.
I believe some fail to understand the high-risk, speculative nature of RBs in fantasy. Waiver wire RBs often propel teams to fantasy glory. Bobby Raineys come along every year and turn into productive workhorse backs while some people cling to Doug Martins hoping past performance equals future gain. The NFL stands for Not For Long. This is the truest adage of all. Regardless of that, you guys aren't using the intel that is coming in. The Coaching staff LOVES Rainey and are starting him even if Martin is healthy. Coachspeak is always diplomatic. You ride the hot hand if you want to win games.
I don't think that's entirely accurate. In Doug Martin's 1st 5 games last season (prior to getting hurt) he averaged: 82 yards/.2TD's rushing and 12 yards/0 TD's = 10 Fantasy Points/Game In Bobby Rainey's 1st 5 games he averaged: 83 yards/.8TD's rushing and 2 yards/0 TD's = 12.8 FP/Game Aside from the TD's their numbers were virtually identical. I know, I know, TD's are the name of the game. But I just think, to say "he excelled" is a little far fetched. Not to mention, Doug Martin had to play much better defenses than Rainey. But Rainey is obviously a good player, I just don't think he's played well enough to just scrap Doug Martin.
don't never start ANYBODY with confidence on thursday night. My prediction: Rainey's going to get 43 yards and no td. Maybe 1 catch for 8 yards.
