The South American and European teams roll out the same tired players.

Scola-Delfino-Nocioni-Ginobili is a vaguely dangerous line up... in the 2004 Olympics.... but they now have a combined age of eleventy billion years old but they're still on the floor.

Imagine if the US was sending Wade, Marbury, Carlos Boozer and Lamar Odom as their squad - that's pretty much what Argentina is doing.

Just for the record...I would totally endorse this for the entertainment purposes.

For entertainment purposes, I would keep Harden on the team so he can play alongside with his new friend / former rival in love Lamar Odom.

Eh Scalabrine's fadeaway jam in '05 was better.

this first half against venezuela might be the worst half of basketball in history.

edit: i actually said that before team USA proceeded to miss 13 straight field goals. 13 straight! at one point they were 10-38 from the field, 2-18 on 3's, 8-14 on ft's, and had 8 turnovers. and even adjusting for talent venezuela might be playing worse on offense.

team USA's overall offense is at least a little concerning. the only people i would call good shooters are durant, thompson, and irving, and 2 of them blew a 3-1 lead in the playoffs. guys like butler and derozan remind you of the richard jefferson/lamar odom-type guys from the 2004 team. not terrible shooters but not guys you want taking important shots. paul george can hit 5-7 on 3's or 0-7 on 3's and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to when he does it. and i feel like even a squad like the 2004 team pretty much created open shots whenever it wanted to, they just missed them. but this team doesn't even seem to be running any good offense. considering how easy things should be, they take a lot of forced/contested jumpers.

at least the D is legit and, like in the 2014 world championships, the big men are dominating the offensive boards. big guys used to be our weakness and have been a strength in the last 2 tournaments.

I had to do some interviews and checkout their practice at Toyota Center this afternoon.

    A few quick thoughts

KD seems more relaxed, less stressed and just really chill than at any point I've seen him in the last 5-6 years(during his time with OKC).

Jimmy Butler is still staying on that "I'm from Tomball not from Houston" nonsense.

Carmelo is unquestionably the leader of this team.

I don't get why Kyrie Irving didn't play for Australia?
