Next season no doubt. He will be Patterson's backup hopefully when if we miss the playoffs. No way Morey continues with overpaid vets like Martin and Scola is we end up in the lotto again.
They didn't say 100% but they said he probably will come over in the offseason. They said nothing is ever certain but they sounded quite confident.
Scola isn't "overpaid." He also isn't "over the hill," or 40 years old, an impression one might get from some of the posts I've read in the GARM. More to the point, however, why isn't this in one of a couple of threads about Donuts on the front page?
I hope next season, but if D-Mo stays over in Europe 2 more years, he is not bound by the NBA's rookie salary scale, so he would make a LOT more money, and much more quickly. He would be around 1.4 or so million if he signed next year, but if he waits he could probably start at the MLE or higher level.... I would guess his agent will inform him of this, and it will be up to how badly he wants to play in the NBA. DD
not only that, but some of the players that garm posters want instead of scola average around 1.5 more rebounds and 2 more points on losing teams . I think Scola is a damn good player and will be a great mentor to D mo. Can't wait for dmo already. If you're 7' can run and chew gum at the same time, the rockets need you! people that hate scola are probably just balding men or jealous husbands.
Conversely, if he gets injured or gets exposed as a prototypical European softie by staying overseas he might lose out on millions. Even from the perspective of an agent it's a double edged sword. My gut tells me we will see him here next season. His post draft interview with Morris/Parsons/McHale said a lot about his desire to play in the states.
