Think he got hurt the other day and is on the shelf. Would be cool to see him in September. Long journey for him.
Correa 2 for 2 with a double, homerun and 2 walks. Also stole a base. I wonder if he knows about Lowrie's situation?!?!
What are the Astros going to wait for him to get injured again playing meaningless minor ball? We have a huge need in our lineup for someone who can get on base after we lost Law. We're in first and have a chance to make playoffs with how weak our division looks to be. Go for it Lunhow.
He was nowhere close to doing this in the "hitters haven" of Lancaster (even though he was still very good). Maybe Luhnow should send him back down there to achieve "mastery" at every level! (wink). But in all seriousness, what if this happened last season in AA (had he not got injured, he was on the verge of being promoted)... would have definitely spurred the same excitement and the same sense of urgency. Alas, timetable and salary issues have to still be considered... but if Marwin and Villar completely flail at SS, and this team starts losing games in bunches with one of their most consistent hitters out... hmmm...
Our division doesn't look weak. Our opponents have played a disproportionate amount of games against two good teams, 2014 pennant winning Kansas City Royals and the Houston Astros.
Doubt Astros rush Correa. But if the team is still in contention in July, then I think they try and bring him up to Majors. Lunhow is on record as saying that he isnt opposed to having prospects skip AAA if warranted. But they are going to handle Correa with kid gloves.
Luhnow was on 790 with Matt Thomas this afternoon. While he didn't outright say "no" to the question of whether Correa would replace Lowrie while he's (likely) on the DL, he did say that they'd prefer to see how he does after the 2nd time through the Texas League. He made it sound like it's highly likely, should Correa continue to do at or near what he's doing, we will see him in Houston this summer.
The Astros front office makes decisions on what they think gives the team the best chance of winning the World Series (not just this season) within certain limits placed by Crane (e.g. budget). That said, Correa should have been up at same time as Bryant.
Bryant had played over 140 AA/AAA games... I think that makes it a completely different situation. Would I like to see Correa? Sure. But him staying in the Texas League through the All Star Break is completely reasonable.
Totally reasonable, and expected. Howevah: Bryant was a 4 year college guy, you really should compare Correa to ARods/Trouts/etc....
Yep "typical timelines" are all good and well, and work for most players The special ones can handle the big league level earlier than most. Correa seems like one of the special ones
