Won 4 in a rows, 7-3 last 10, 2nd in their division. Came back from double digit, including 22 pts. Held Washington to 6 pts in the 4th. +4.2 margin for the year. Defense still look solid while their offense is +10 Y2Y with 6 players avg in double digits. Still early but looks like the new surprise team this year.
Lamb has been very solid, Batum has been great, and Walker is playing very well. Interesting team with some good pieces. I've got family in Charlotte so if the Rockets ship continues to sink, maybe I'll start rooting for the Hornets .
I think they came back from a huge decifit to win also in the 4th a few games ago . I am very impressed most of all with Clifford. If you saw his offensive system last year and this year it's night and day! Very impressed by him. And they have managed to maintain a good defence too. Good job. (hes best buds with Thibs and Thibs was giving him tons of advice after he got fired lol).
Batum/Kemba/Jefferson can be a legit big three and they have a really solid bench. Cho did work this offseason.
Still wished they would have taken Bostons offer in the draft instead of taking Kaminsky. Oh well. They are a nice suprise. I can see then getting 43-47 wins.
I am emotionally broken having to accept the fact that the Charlotte Hornets are a better basketball team than the Houston Rockets
Someone on their fan website posted, "We only play real contenders in the next 10 games" and the anti-jinx worked. Seriously though, I was going to post Kemba last 5 games numbers, but thought the immediate response would be "Yeah, but against crappy teams." Still they got a couple quality wins in the last ten against Mavs, Wiz and Bulls, otherwise, Wiz W Kings W 76ers W Nets W Knicks L POR W Bulls L Knicks W MIN W Spurs L Mavs W Bulls W
Batum is their glue. Dude has been amazing. Arguably an MVP candidate (emphasis on candidate). Yes, I'm being serious.
if only we could have drafted a guy like batum. i think i dreamt once that he was wearing a rockets cap.
Batum was traded for a player who was a top 10 pick just the year before, is very young with high potential and barely got to play. (so his flaws didn't become apparent). Batum is also in a contract year and is going to get paid 20 million per. So stop complaining. We didn't have the assets to trade for him and we won't sign him.
The Hornets won't be basement dwellers this season, but they're a long way from being the 2015/16 version of the Hawks.
