His stroke his so smooth, his cuts are so nice, he plays totally within the offense and doesn't force too much, and he gets to the line SO much. I'm freakin' psyched we got him.
On offense... While being one of the worst defensive shooting guards in the league, he is just remarkably efficient on offense.
Now that is a big stretch. He is not good on defense but when people make extreme statements like this I just have to
Adelman has said that in Martin's first season (under Adelman), he was good defensively. However, he was asked to score so much in Sacramento, he began to sag on the defensive end. Rest assured, Martin will be doing 2 things this season: (1) beef up, (2) work on his defense.
While he might not be the worst, he is in the running... And certainly in the bottom quarter... We better get a beastly frontline If AB and the Prince of Persia are locks on the Rox...
he's awful at D... he needs to hang out with Batman and Ariza this summer and learn to torment offense.
I like this thread, supposed to be positive intended by the OP, has talked only about his defense, or lackthereof. Come on, Clutchfans!
People will also always find excuses, such as this one. Fact is, we need better defense in the backcourt to win a ring. MAYBE we can compensate with a nasty frontline.
Wishful thinking. He's been in the league 6 years already. What makes you think he'll suddenly decide to bulk up? Same goes for defense, actually. I think at this point, he is who he is, and we'll have to find a way to get by with his non-existent defense. Yao solves a lot of problems though.
Well, Martin is on record saying that he needed to gain 11 lbs of muscle, which on his frame would a considerable gain. Plus, we know the dude is a hard work, always trying to improve his play, so I would be cautiously optimistic that he will achieve that weight gain.
