    Lets see...

Steve Bisciotti, Jim Irsay, and Jerry Jones lobbying Roger Goddell to uphold Tom Brady's suspension while employeeing domestic abusers, wife-beaters, and in one case being a drug addict and convicted drunk driver, is simply hilarious.

Robert Kraft should publicly ridicule them at the next owners meeting.

This is the end of the line for Roger Goodell. The writing is on the wall. He's got owners bashing each other. No way out. Brady will end up in Canton, Goodell will be unemployed.

Yeah, because cheating totally doesn't affect the integrity of the game in no way. As horrible as those other things are, they don't undermine the rules of the game.

I love Pats fans justification of cheating. Humans are remarkable at protecting their ego.

The fact that Brady would destroy his cell phone that he knows is part of an ongoing investigation is enough for me. At that point, he loses any benefit of the doubt and there's really no reason to trust his story.

Destroyed his cellphone that was to be used as evidence?

Obviously the actions of an innocent man ;)

I doubt it. Even if the owners don't especially like Goodell, the league is making more money than it ever has, and that translates to the owners making more money than they ever have. I doubt they decide to rock that boat and potentially derail the gravy train, crashing the plane into the mountain. And other transportation metaphors.

Seriously though, Goodell is a tool, but his job is secure.

What does goodell have have to do with the contracts. Anyone could be the commish. What exactly does he do. He isn't lawyer. He is just some dude that just worked there a while. He isn't particularly smart or done anything notable just some guy who happen to be at the right place and make the right friends. Every sport league has seen record television deals. Football just happens to be the most popular sport and has been so since the 80s.

Why Brady is going to win in federal court:

    1. Wells claimed that Brady was at least "generally aware" of the misconduct. The NFLPA would argue being "generally aware" of something has no legal grounds. Either Wells found clear evidence that Brady committed some sort of wrongdoing or he didn't.

    2. The NFL policy for handling footballs, among other team equipment, is in a club manual that pertains to team employees — not players. They'll argue Brady was suspended on a rule that doesn't even apply to him.

    3. Even if the club rules did apply to him, the NFLPA will argue there was no such precedent for a four-game suspension. Under the agreed-upon collective-bargaining agreement, players have a right to know the specific consequences for specific violations of league rules.

    4. The NFLPA plans to cite a specific example to further prove Brady's suspension is unwarranted based on the current rules. They plan to reference an incident that occurred last year when the NFL caught the Minnesota Vikings tampering with footballs by placing them in a dryer, a violation of the club manual. The Vikings punishment was reportedly just a letter from the NFL — no fine, loss of draft picks, or suspension.

    5. Lastly, the NFLPA would question Wells' procedure for measuring the footballs, saying there was never a previous set standard to do so.

If Brady really did destroy his cellphone, he deserves a full year.

This is BS. Even at four games. If he gets less, and doesn't buck up, I hope he's banned from the Hall.

I would imagine he had more incriminating evidence of nefarious activity than deflategate.

I thought his suspension was moreso related to not complying with the investigation?

Even that's a problem because per the CBA, players can only suspended for violations of conduct and/or drug policy with proper notification of violation and penalty. Goodell suspended Brady based on the Wells report which concludes that Brady "more likely than not" participated in the deflating of footballs. Now after his appeal, Goodell has switched stances and made this about not cooperating with an investigation. Again, there is no requirement per CBA to comply with any investigation. This was not like a federal subpoena that he failed to comply with. So, in a court Brady's going to have this thrown out.

Bottom line is Goodell even with all his power and discretion can't simply suspend players and keep changing the cause of the suspension at his whim.
