You have Dwight Howard cupping Canaan's junk on live tv. If that's not high school level behavior, I'm not sure what is. So imagine the stuff that must go on behind the scenes.
Good move for all teams involved, but I agree that OKC made the most significant additions in terms of talent. When Adams comes back healthy, that second unit of DJ/Waiters/Adams will be scary in the playoffs.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Reggie Jackson Says the OKC Thunder Scapegoated Him <a href="http://t.co/5S5ybKko3y">http://t.co/5S5ybKko3y</a> <a href="http://t.co/WEKcU144fu">pic.twitter.com/WEKcU144fu</a></p>— SLAM Magazine (@SLAMonline) <a href="https://twitter.com/SLAMonline/status/569903925991772160">February 23, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Reggie just needs to shut up, enjoy his new scenery and let his play do all the talking. Anybody who watched OKC regularly could see he was selectively holding back his effort. This rear-guard chatter doesn't help his case at all.
Jennings went down with an achilles. That serious injury and especially for someone like him who relies on speed, it doesn't bode well. But I can't wait for the drama next year.
If Jennings comes back strong, then THAT is a player Rockets fans might want to keep an eye on with regards to a trade for a PG that might be available. I agree that no way will Jackson/Jennings pairing last. Jennings will be moved.
The early returns in Reggie Jackson hasn't been any better than how he played in OKC this year. I wonder how his market shapes up this summer.
Not really sure how this is any different from what WB is doing now, dude takes more shots than the rest of the starters combined.
Here is what I predict will happen: SVG gets a good look at RJ the remainder of this season and tells him what to work on over the summer. They give RJ a near max (or max) contract. RJ comes into next season primed for a breakout, has a full training camp with SVG and starts out next year gangbusters. Some people will make the mistake of comparing him with Harden moving to Houston. But eventually he will settle down to what he is and the Pistons will realize they paid him way too much. RJ has the same problem as Parsons: If he's one of your "big 3", you are not a championship contender.
REG-GIE! REG-GIE! REG-GIE! More like BENCH ME! BENCH ME! BENCH ME! Benched again tonight. Looks like the Pistons found their new Josh Smith. 1-10 with Jackson; lost tonight, their 10th straight. Spoiler <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Detroit's ORtg before cutting Josh Smith: 97.6 After cutting Smith and before getting Reggie Jackson: 106.6 Since Jackson's debut: 96.7</p>— Andy Bailey (@AndrewDBailey) <a href="https://twitter.com/AndrewDBailey/status/576556603073282048">March 14, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Moral of the story: Reggie Jackson may be hurting Detroit's offense more than Josh Smith, who was basically paid to go away.</p>— Andy Bailey (@AndrewDBailey) <a href="https://twitter.com/AndrewDBailey/status/576557683123339264">March 14, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ <PRE>REGULAR SEASON AVERAGES SEASON TEAM GP GS MIN FGM-A FG% 3PM-A 3P% FTM-A FT% OR DR REB AST BLK STL PF TO PTS '14-'15 DET 10 10 31.1 5.9-15.9 .371 0.8-3.3 .242 2.1-2.2 .955 1.1 3.2 4.3 7.3 0.2 0.7 2.9 3.1 14.7 '14-'15 OKC 50 13 28.0 5.0-11.5 .432 0.9-3.2 .278 2.0-2.3 .861 0.6 3.5 4.0 4.3 0.1 0.8 1.9 1.8 12.8</PRE>
That trade was just bad. All sorts of bad. After Jennings got injured, DJ was definitely the leader on the court for that team and just seemed to step up seamlessly into the starting role and seemed like he'd be able to pick up the slack and help lead the Pistons to that 8th spot. DJ is even better value as a backup point guard and the Thunder are getting that from him as opposed to the rubbish that Reggie Jackson is providing the Pistons.
RJ is getting crushed in the media. Not just in Detroit, but various websites. What a complete disaster so far for both sides. SVG looks like an idiot again and RJ's free agent value has nose-dived. He is talented and can do some things but one of my longtime platitudes comes to mind: It isn't just how good/smart/talented/etc you are, it's also how close your perception is to reality. A person that is mediocre and knows it is better off than a smart person who thinks they are a genius. RJ can't shoot, but doesn't seem to realize it. He will never be a 25 PPG scorer but wants to be sooo badly.
We'll see. He definitely won't get a Parsons contract this summer. He could sign a two-year deal with an opt-out.
I don't see anyone making that aggressive an offer to Jackson. He has some skills but right now looks closer to "propsect" than actual helpful player. Is he any better than, say, Rodney Stuckey at this point?
I get the feeling everyone will be doing this Which is why I don't think KLove opts out He will stew until that 2016 money rolls in Rocket River
