Im watching the Texans play in Oakland on a baseball diamond right now. Quality field? LOL Every field is imperfect. Good athletes can play on anything. Injury prone athletes whine about everything. No excuses.
i doubt there are interlocking pallets underneath Tennessees grass like at nrg.. youre talking about something aesthetic when the issue here is the metal/wooden pallets under the grass. i think both hartmann and cushings cleats got caught in the pallet, not sure about welker but the seem was an issue.... the difference between their grass and ours.. there is an issue here, it should be addressed
It's a happy day. The Texans went to a crappy field. No one got hurt and the Texans won. There is nothing wrong with the grass at NRG. Haters gonna hate. Whiney players gonna whine. No excuses.
Cushing got hurt in New York and Kansas City, IIRC. That being said, the turf looks terrible, and I hope they figure out a way to make it better for the players. And don't get me started on the shadows on the field during day games with the roof open I don't think Kubiak liked playing with the roof open, I wonder if O'Brien will be any different? Too bad they put all that money into the retractable roof when it is barely ever retracted. University of Phoenix stadium in Glendale benefited from being built after Reliant/nrg with their "retractable grass" solution.
Cushing's injuries were contact injuries. The biggest gripe with bad fields, natural or synthetic, is the non-contact injuries.
there was an incident a few years back at reliant where cushing got caught in one of the seams, i think against atlanta, tackling Tony Gonzalez.. obviously not referring to the chops by slasusen and charles..

if you get hurt in houston the turf is the immediate blame.. however, both times with demeco, it didnt look awkward, like his injuries were bound to happen regardless.. cushing hurt his knee a few years back it looked awkward when he went to tackle gonzalez.. hartmanns looked awkward when he caught the seem, welkers looked awkward as well.. both of demecos looked like his body just gave out.. they still need to address it..
dumbest statement of the year. generally speaking, when you get hurt in houston it's a "non contact injury"; therefore, the turf is to blame. you people crack me up.
so non contact injuries dont happen anywhere else? just because a non contact injury occurred doesnt necessarily mean it was the fault of the turf.. you crack all of us up..
keep apologizing for the worst field in the NFL. when it's ripped up for synthetic this offseason, we'll see who has the last laugh.
