I work at a shoe store in the Galleria and Joel Blank, the director of Rockets Broadcasting, came into the store...I asked him about the whole Calvin situation and he told me Calvin would be back at the beginning of next season!
I kinda figured that to be true. I have to admit that Van got better and was informative. I different style, but sometimes very funny.
No kidding. The guy deserves his gig back. For all his foibles, he is a Rocket through and through and he lives and breathes basketball.
I really tried to get used to Van, I just can't. I don't even know what it is about him that I don't like.
When I saw the thread I got excited thinking that maybe, just maybe he was coming back this season. Oh well. I kind of figured he was coming back next season but it's good new nonetheless. Honestly, I hate to beat a dead horse, but Van is simply AWFUL. The accent is horrendous. Can you imagine a fan from our opponent with NBA Gameplan deciding "hey, I think I'll check out the Houston broadcast team while I watch the game tonight" and then hearing Van? What must they think?
I guess I'll have to listen to the radio next season. I can only imagine how out of control he'll be after being off the air for a year.
"Gimme my cookies, Bill!" "Yuck, yuck, chuckle, chuckle, hee haw..." "Me, me, me, me, me, me, me..." "That's what I'm talkin' 'bout! That's what I'm talkin' 'bout!"
Good news. I miss Calvin but I have a whole new respect for Van Chancelor after listening to him rappin' Eminem today on SportsRadio 610. LOL!
I think Van is annoying as hell also, but I dont really see anything wrong with his accent. My mom grew up in tennessee and has a deep country accent just like that. I guess I got used to it over the years.
Will Cynthia Cooper be given more air time? She is not on that much anymore...I'd like to see her interview and dance with the powerdancers....
