WL..sheets has been pretty hot his last 2 starts i think. And hasn't he always given us trouble? Seems like it anyway.. probably not as much as i think.
Current Brewers vs. Wandy: 9-44 (.205), 3 XBH (all 2B) Stros vs. Ohka: 22-76 (.290), they've pretty much Too bad Wandy's not starting opposite Sheets, Ausmus has hit Ohka well in limited ABs (3-8, 2 2B, 2 BB), but Sheets owns him (Ensberg also). He's 5-4, 3.1ish ERA against the Stros since '03: Lane, AE, Lamb & Berkman have hit Sheets well; Stros as a group average one K per 5 ABs & an impressive .267 OBP vs. Sheets, they've hit a buncha HR's though (Biggio & Berkman mainly).
Sheets gave up 4 runs his first game back, and 2 in each of his last two games against Cincinatti and Atlanta.
yeah, but that one stat isn't everything, of course. He's struck out 19 in his last 2 starts (13 innings) and walked 1 batter all season. He's only given up 1 HR (and hoenstly, I discount his first start off the DL, so it could be 0.) And even with that first start included, his WHIP is at 1.06. Take away the 1 start, and his ERA is at 2.77 in his last 2. Also both home starts (vs. the bad start being away, at Shea) I'm not trying to ride Sheets, but I'm just ready for some seriously good pitching (god I hope Preston gets that day off). And I hope Nieve can handle himself.
Wandy doesn't have good stuff tonight... with the way the Brewers are killing the ball lately, he may see that stellar ERA go up a little (then again, with the way the Stros score runs for him... he may be okay).
Way to go Wandy, getting out of the jam, now it is time for the Astros Bats to perform up to par on a Wandy start.
