Astros are seemingly in the news for the wrong reasons. What's one more headline? Maddon will have his pick of teams.

What makes any of y'all think that Maddon would choose the Astros anyway? The Cubs have a well-respected front office that is big on analytics, a lot of young talent, and tons of money to use in the near future. I bet that's his first choice.

How in the hell are the Cubs suddenly the paradise destination for good managers? Spare me the story; I know it well. Houston should have gotten there sooner. The Cubs. Pffft.
Simple. The Cubs are a better place to win for a guy like Maddon, a better story. A greater challenge even with arguably better prospects, more money to spend, and arguably a better front office than the Astros because of the big drought. I don't think it would've mattered how fast someone would've gotten to Maddon. This seemed like it was going to happen because Maddon just wanted to go there.
indeed. that wasn't the question. It was a lament that the Cubs--the Cubs for cryin' out loud--have become a real "destination" while the Astros are still an "experiment". Dammit.

Now with new ownership and management people think things might change. They won't. Death, Taxes and Cubs.
Not liking what I see in Hinch overall. His poor managing has been a big part of the team losing it down the stretch. I just don't feel he has what it takes to lead this team where they want to ultimately be unless Luhnow builds an absolutely loaded team. Just not excited about him as manager moving forward.
