Has BO'd said exactly what *HE* looks for in a QB? generic 'smarts' . . . but anything more specific? Rocket River
Heard him on his radio show recently. IQ and accuracy. Forgot what 3 was. If there was a 3. But #1 and #2 were definitely IQ and accuracy.
Mallet is suppose to be low IQ but High Football IQ Dre seemed to like him . . .. Toughness. . . .To be determines Savage - gets an Incomplete in all categories Fitzie - C Student Rocket River
Luck is listed at 6'4", 240. He's also a lot better. There's this. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/dmH7jvQN4zk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> So, accuracy, decision making, and football IQ. Athleticism is great, but not required. It's an afterthought to the other things. That might be where he goes, but I'm not sure if I'd want to spend a 2nd on him. He's one of those guys with size and potential but without the college production to back it up. Not sure how many of those guys pan out. Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers did, and I guess that's what you're hoping for, that his talent makes him one of the exceptions. He might be the 3rd QB off the board and as such, go in the first but I think he needs another year and he's already said that he's going back to school, for whatever that's worth (not much). Even the people that like him don't really think he's a guy that can come in and start right away in the NFL.
this is what im clinging to, if they bring him back and he starts next season as qb1 i would be happy with that. should still probably draft a qb early..
Agree with those who think we re-up Mallett as the starter for next season but still draft a qb early. I'd strongly consider a Mallett-Fitz-Hundley (2nd round) depth chart next season with Savage on the practice squad. In the first round my heart says Malcolm Brown to help take some attention on the DL off of JJ, but my money is on a DB.
Yeah it does say that on ESPN, it said 6'3" 230 on his draft info. I guess he grew, maybe Petty will to. I watched a lot of Baylor because my 93 year old Mom graduated from there and it was fun sharing a special season with her. The dude just looked like an NFL quarterback to my eye. Watching TCU's Rose Bowl season, I thought Andy Dalton looked like he would play in the NFL, but Petty looks better to me. I did not watch really any of Bret Hundley or Connor Cook so the 1000 articles I read before the draft will be interesting. I do think they will re-sign Mallet and I think he will start in 2015. We don't know what they thing of Savage yet, I think he will play once we are mathematically eliminated. I think we have to take a WR #1 to replace Andre' because I don't think they will let him take up so much of the cap space for his level of production.
I think no matter what happens (Texans going to the playoffs, even winning a playoff game) Fitzpatrick is gone. He wouldnt have been the starter if Mallet gets here before training camp. I think it will be Mallet, Savage and other vet QB, maybe Hoyer, but he wont be the starter, maybe not even the backup if the coaches think Savage is ready.
Current QB's Mallet had a great game then a terrible one Case had two ok games - good enough to win Fitz was Fitz Savage was deemed 'no ready yet' outsiders who maybe available RGIII Cutler College Players? So where are we . . . . . Rocket River
I'd be down for a Cutler/RG3. We need some middle ground between a studly young franchise QB and a complete liability under center. RG3 and Cutler may be ugly to some, but they have produced and showed they have potential to be at least top 15 QB's. It's not a popularity contest, and if we had at least semi-stable play at the QB position this year we'd be in the playoffs.
