Clyde is ****ing terrible. He is so corny and lame. He sounds so uncomfortable. I hate listening to him about as much as I hate sonic commercials.
clyde is awesome! even when the rockets are losing you don't get in a bad mood with him as a commentator because rather sooner than later he'll say something so stupid that you can't help but chuckle.
He was alright. He did point out something that annoyed me when Bill said it though and I liked that. Bill got mad that D-Mo didn't catch a ridiculous full speed bounce pass in traffic that was at his shins. Bill was getting upset and says "you gotta catch that! That was a good pass." Drexler immediately takes exception to that and goes "...not if its a bounce pass." But then he gets cut-off before he can go into that. That was perhaps the best and most on point comment I've ever heard Clyde make on commentary.
Clyde Drexler is amazing. The only way you could top him is we he teamed up with Bill Walton. I would pay just to hear their game commentary. No joke. Fake folks like Doug "players hate me after one season" Collins and Hubie "gone senile before you were born" Brown like to shove useless and irrelevant information down our throats to impress us. I didnt start watching the NBA tonight you morons. You dont need to patronize me. Guys like Clyde Drexler and Bill Walton keep it real. They know NBA is just entertainment and they are there to entertain. If you guys want boredom, go listen to an instructional e-book on a loop all day. "99 sure fire ways to scrub your neighbors deck while it is snowing" will probably make your day.
Besides making observations that are...frankly weird.... (clubbing baby seals anyone?) he also loves to be the contrarian. Now there's nothing wrong with this occasionally, but he seems to revel in it. All to the great annoyance of Worrell and Bull and usually myself as well. Example: Worrell: Well, the Rockets have given up a 18 point lead and now trail by 12 with less than 3 minutes to play. You can't expect to win games when you have 2nd half performances like this. Clyde: Its still not over yet fellas.
Drexler is pretty bad but it's made worse by the entire cast. Bullard is kind of rough, and Worrell is starting to look like the Emporer from Star Wars. Even Calvin Murphy can get tiresome. I have been watching Rockets basketball since before Hakeem joined Houston so i practically grow up watching Worell, but he is past his time. ....with NBA TV I catch my fair share of other announcing teams and I wouldn't say Houston is the worst, but it's the bottom half pretty squarely.
Both Clyde and Bullard are bad. I think Bill would be much better matched up with someone else like Calvin.
