It really is funny that you post such racist nonsense while seemingly on a crusade against racism. Your little cartoon is nothing but spreading a stereotype in an effort to belittle people based on their race. It's pretty disgusting and you should be ashamed of yourself.
No, it's pretty much how things have worked historically. Discrimination towards immigrants, redlining, racial segregation, disparities in generational wealth, and racial disparities in law enforcement are all well documented. Pointing it out isn't racist any more than pointing out income inequality and its causes is class warfare. Nice try, thanks for playing rookie.
It would be exactly the same as someone doing a comic that portrayed African Americans as crackheads or drug dealers, it would be exploiting a stereotype. Just like any stereotype, it stems from something real, but it's usually considered racist to use stereotypes to belittle all members of a race. Then again I wouldn't expect you to understand that.
No, you haven't. You come across as an ignorant rube willing to believe anything said on Fox. Again, please provide any evidence at all that there is a trend of more black on white crime. Otherwise, I have to continue to assume you are talking out of your a$$ and parroting Fox pundits.
No, that's what the pundits tell you. You could make the choice to think critically about their claims, but you seem to choose instead to stare slack-jawed while they spew, then parrot that nonsense.
That cartoon rightly points out that there are MASSIVE differences between how the races are treated in this country. Some of it is starting to change, but especially the fifth pane regarding drug arrests is still highly applicable today. Blacks make up 13% of the drug users in this country, but represent 84% of the people incarcerated for drug offenses. I'm sorry you have chosen to blind yourself to the continued effects of racism in this country, but that is your choice, you are willfully blind.
I guess if my African and West-Indian born parents hadn't gotten every one of these things and full undergrad and graduate scholarships by the mid-'70s then this would make sense. I love the part where the wife's parents lived within their racist means their whole adult lives so as to bigotedly help with their kids oppressive home purchase. Certainly puts the theory of homeless, unemployed, incarcerated, evicted white people with rejected loan applications into perspective.
For anyone interested, this is a short statistical analysis of racial disparity in drug arrests for possession done by the BJS: http://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/rdusda.pdf. It's pretty old ('95), but I think the findings are probably still applicable. I figure at the very least, it's more useful than a simplistic political cartoon... Essentially, a fairly significant portion of the disparity can be attributed to "risk factors" such as type of drug, amount, frequency of use, location of use, etc. At the end, the author still finds a percentage of the disparity that cannot be explained by these measurable factors where people can then start speculating about racial biases, though obviously there could be other possibilities to explain this part as well, such as imprecise surveys responses.
Seriously...why is this thread 4 pages long? Youtube comments are the cesspoll of the internet. It's pretty much where trolls are born.
I thought this was appropriate here <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.liveleak.com/ll_embed?f=da4ab584324e" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I love this from the comment section because its so true: "Shes pretty. But if she talked like a hood rat she would be ugly." The girl is really pretty... If she talked "ghetto", I don't think I'd think the same way.
Wow, really makes you think. Even if you never "do" anything racist yourself, you're still kind of a racist because you're enjoying its benefits at others' expense whether knowingly or not (& ignorance is no excuse).
Whites get the same stereotype based on regional accents, and with more of a downward class distinction than racially; this is why everyone in flyover country looks down on New Jersey and the San Fernando Valley.
"No excuse" for what exactly, working hard, minding your own business and not having bad **** happen to you? Jesus ****ing Christmas.
You aren't racist for benefiting from a system that favors your race. The political economic system is racist. There is a difference. Not noting this difference, and playing political games with this distinction, is why these discussions go nowhere. With respect to an earlier (disingenuous?) comment in the thread: white privelege doesn't mean every white person is well off. Of course there is white homelessness and problems, because working classes have been getting the shaft, especially since unions started getting busted, and becuase people in general do make bad life decisions. Systemic issues are hard to discuss and are very complicated. But capitalism combined with racism is a tough mix.
