I have not heard anyone talking about this movie. It is going to be released on April 28th and I was wondering if any of you were planning on seeing it. I checked www.rottentomatoes.com and www.aintitcool.com and the reviews are incredible. Some are calling it "the most powerful movie they have ever seen." I am definitely going to see it, but I am not preparing myself to be entertained. Rather I am sure I will suffer through it, but I will still see it. Although many are saying its too soon, too soon for what? What is it that we are trying to forget?
Uhh, there are only 5 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. This thing may hit 50% when the bulk of reviewers watch it.
I don't think so. If you read the reviews in detail, the critics feel so strongly about the stunning way it was put together. Each review seems to have the concensus that although its not an enjoyable film, it is so moving and created with such sensitivity that taken as a whole it is an incredible achievement. I'm sure not everyone will like it but I still feel that there won't be that many people saying how "bad" the movie was or what a "waste of money" it was.l
I'm impressed that the filmmakers used real pilots and stewardesses for those roles, as well as people who were actually working on 9/11 to play the civilian and military controllers. I still haven't decided if I'm going to see it or not.
I'm not going to see it...I'll be PO'd coming out of the theater as I know it'll be dramatized a little more, which should be hard to do since we all know how it ends...Cashing in so early...
I think I posted this in the other thread.. but I'm gonna see it. I'm not gonna feel like they were "cashing in too early" since they asked the families before doing it, and the families said the time was right. They wanted it to be made. The over-dramatization will be a little annoying, but I'm hoping they will have taken input on the people's personalities from their families.. and I'm hoping they incorporate the transcript and you know we can make claims of it being dramatized...but that could very well be how it was.
That was the biggest praise from the reviews was the total lack of over dramatization. As a matter of fact there is hardly any character development, no crecendo of music as the passengers rush the cabin, no added negativity as far as the terrorists, and no American flags being waived and speeches about courage displayed. The event was dramatic enough so the director pretty much lets it unfold before our eyes. The flight is in real time just like the show 24. The plane scene lasts 91 minutes and the reason critics have found it so encompassing is becuase it does not feel like a movie. It gives audiences the feeling of being a passenger aboard flight 93 on September 11, 2001 albeit good or bad.
93% Fresh Rating, 111 positive, 9 negative. That's pretty definitive. I think I will have to see this.
If I wanted to watch an airplane thriller type movie, I would watch "Flight Plan" starring the loveable Jodie Foster. On dvd now!
