link Anybody know anything about this movie? I've been following release of new movies but havn't heard of this one. Is it surpose to be low budget film?
If United 93 is being done by the Director of the Bourne Supremacy it says... and it is being funded by a major feature film Production Company (Universal). I think it must be a decent size budget to this film.
I saw the trailer the other night on tv. Count me out on going to the theater to see it. I'll rent it when it comes out someday....maybe.
One of two movies being released this year about the 9/11 attacks (the other is being helmed by Oliver Stone). 1) the movie just doesn't seem that engaging to me and I don't see how it could be unless you competely fabricated and sensationalized the account of what happened and 2) I think it's still way too early to put the attacks on film
I think it's good that they are making movies about this even though this particular one probably won't be very good. With the passage of time, a good deal of the American public has lost that true sense of just how horrible 9-11 was. We should never forget that. Hopefully movies like this will shock us back to just what exactly happened on that day.
If only that was their point. I can't believe they made this movie. At the end of the day, they still made it just for money. I saw the preview a couple weeks back and I was in disgust of how they were using actual footage of the towers as advertisement for people to go see it. I agree that we shouldn't forget what happened. But I don't want production companies making millions of dollars off of it in order to do so.
But doesn't the economic stimulation provided by that situation directly counteract the initial intentions of the terrorists?
I think this one will be too close to the real deal for me to go see it just yet. I still can't see images of that day or think about the bravery of those people without this sinking feeling. The other one coming out this summer may be a little easier to watch because while it's based on a true story, it's one I haven't heard too much about. I don't have a problem with them making this movie because the families threw their support behind it 100% (well, I think 100%...close to that). While I probably won't watch it until well after it's released, I appreciate that those who lost loved ones on Flight 93 are supportive of the project. Now, if you have a sense of humor, check out American Voices at The Onion from the past few days. They have one on this movie. "It's called United 93? That's some egregious product placement."
i posted this in D&D before...my sister had a friend who was on Flight 93. When i heard they were making this movie, i wondered how she would react. she can't wait to see it. she's been talking about it a lot. that seemed like a weird reaction to me...but she says she really wants to see it.
it's no different than any other films about Pearl Harbor or WWII or Vietnam. alot of these films were made to make money. it cost them to make it. the timing of the film isn't all that relevant. i doubt this is the first film to be made 5 years after the event. and how soon is too soon? well, let's just say, this is just the beginning of 9/11 movies.
yeah, they said something like "we weren't sure if it was time yet to do something like this, but to figure that out, we asked the families...and if they're ready, then I guess it's time"
what i know about it is A. they have already pulled the trailer for this film in certain theaters because viewers werent comfortable with it... B. it is receiving its premiere at TriBeCa Film Festival, (in its 5th year, TFF was founded by Robert Deniro and Jane Rosenthal in response to 9/11 and to help rebuild Lower Manhattan... it does seem appropriate for this venue, in my opinion...) didnt TNT already do a flight 93 made for TV movie?http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0481522/ I also know a family who lost someone on flight 93, Jeremy Glick, the judo champion who is said to have been part of the passenger revolt that saved the plane from its intended target... www.jeremysheroes.org
I have to agree with that. My buddy lost his brother in law who worked for CF. His sister's attitude is "we gotta keep on living." She says she isnt against any WTC movies..its not like if we dont make the movies, its makes time go backwards and the attacks not happen. It happened. It was terrible. And now she's moved on. I'm with her. If we cant face these events and get over them, then the terrorists win. When the bully pushes you around on the playground, do you stay at home, pretend you're sick, and pretend it didnt happen? Or do you find some way to get him back? These movies show the heroic actions of everyday people in an extraordinary event. It also shows the terrorists failing on that flight. I'll see it.
