Magic are looking to trade for Arenas, they will need some payroll relief with such a LARGE contract so I propose either one these moves... Rox get Gortat - Would fill the much needed center position with a strong defensive presence and developing offensive game at a VERY reasonable price. Magic get Ariza's T/E - Simply a salary dump to prepare for Arenas' monster contract and help the LT burden or whatever the penalty will be for going over the cap next year. If they want assets back in return... Magic get JJ + 2012 KNICKS 1st rd pick - JJ would provide another defensive presence/expiring deal and a low 2012 1st rd pick for cap relief. Gortat would become Yao's primary backup and eventual successor while Miller could be moved or kept as Gortat's backup next season. I'll compare Gortat and another player I like for the Rox, Marc Gasol's per 36 minute numbers this season... Gortat 11ppg, 11rpg, 1.2 apg and 1.8 bpg Shooting 55% Gasol 12ppg, 8rpg, 2.6apg and 1.3 bpg Shooting 56% Their numbers are pretty comparable and Gortat's deal is much less then what Gasol will command in the open market this offseason.
Nah, it's gonna be for a player they really liked better than Jeffries and Ish. The tax wasn't a concern, they just really liked this player more.
What is with the Rubio fascination? Has anyone here actually ever watched him play in the Euroleague?
ok.... here it goes lowry, bud, patterson, jeffries and the picks for melo then... we resign brooks, yao and landry and hayes (yao gets a huge pay cut) next years lineup.. brooks/ish smith(a year improved) martin/c.lee/ taylor melo/ batter scola/landry/ hayes yao/ j-hill/ miller Hill can start on the back 2 backs and open up time for landry(i almost think wed have to include jhill in the melo trade to open up minutes for him) and miller can play that veteran role of teaching the offense and passing lanes in practice and playing when absolutely necissary (dikembe like) thoughts??
I don't like it at all ... * You want 3 scoring options at PG, SG, SF and no defense? * You can't keep Brooks and/or Martin if you want to trade for Melo ... * You can't resign Brooks, Yao, Landry and Hayes if you want to keep Melo and give him a new contract (Wade/Lebron kind of contract) * You can't do this ... unless you are freaking God himself! Did I already mentioned? You can't!
alright then, dont sign landry or possibly hayes and make sure youve got the money to resign brooks after low-balling yao(im sure he'll ablige). why exactly cant you keep both brooks and martin?? if your saying they are redundant then ok, but thats your opinion.. but they played VERY WELL with eachother last year...
I'd love to see the Rockets get Gortat. As long as Martin and Scola are on the floor, they need defense. That's why I'd prefer a trade for Gortat or Iggy to one for Melo. Shore up the backup center and small forward positions defensively and see how much better this team is.
In my opinion the players which the Rockets should acquire is Iggy, Marc Gasol, Jeff Green, Sergio Llull (When he comes over from Spain), A superstar which was lured to the Rockets because of the changes.
This 3 team trade would change the face of the team for a very long time... Rockets get: G. Wallace (Bobcats) A. Igudala (76'ers) Bobcats get: Brooks (Rockets) Jefferies (Rockets) 2011 1st (HOU) 76'ers get: Battier (Rockets) J. Taylor (Rockets) P. Patterson (Rockets) 2011 1st (NY) I would throw in C-Bud to the Bobcats if necessary. With him on the team with Wallace and Iggy, there will be a minute’s problem at the SF position. I would rather package him in another deal to try to find a replacement for YAO if the team is open to moving him or another PG. From all that I'm reading about teams out there and what they are in need of and what they want, I think this could work. Trade machine also approves without the addition of Draft Picks. This year's draft is going to be very thin regarding an "impact" level talent. So i would throw in 2nd rd picks if necessary. The Rockets get 2 second tier talents and significantly increase defensively, rebounding, athletically, and toughness goes through the roof. Wallace gives you spacing with his 3pt shot and Iggy gives you slashing and activity. Essentially you are getting Wallace & Iggy for Brooks, Battier, Jefferies, NY's 1st, and HOU's 1st (that is looking like more of an asset since we are losing early). I think that a pretty fair and upgrading trade. The Bobcats get the PG in Brooks that they want plus the expiring contract of Jefferies to help get them under the tax and back active in free agency next summer. They would also receive our 1st draft pick to sweeten up the deal and give them another opportunity at young talent. I don’t see why they wouldn't do it, especially with Jackson scoring for them like he does. The 76'ers get a serviceable veteran leader that they don’t have in Battier that also has a decent expiring contract. This will significantly help them and should be a golden opportunity to get Iggy's contract off their books since they will be officially rebuilding. Throwing in Patterson and Taylor will give them more young talent to evaluate or use for their rebuilding process. Adding in NY's 1st rd pick will give them an opportunity to get another decent/serviceable talent through the draft. Rockets Roster: Lowry / Ish Martin / Lee Wallace / Iggy / Budinger Scola / Hill / Hayes / (and hopefully resign Landry after season) Yao / Miller Starting Lineup (We must play small and fast to be successful) Lowry Martin Iggy (creates a matchup problem for some 3's) Wallace (creates a matchup problem at the 4 spot) Scola (Definately earned it over YAO & will be a matchup problem @ 5) Bench Group Ish Lee Budinger Hill or Landry (if he comes back) Miller or Hill

So, here's my trade. To Sacramento: Scola and Brooks To Denver: Iggy and Cousins To Philly: Battier, Jeffries, Hayes, Hill plus undetermined player acquired with TPE. To Houston: Carmelo Anthony Elton Brand also leaving and going somewhere would be Budinger and Taylor, either Denver or Sacramento. The player acquired with the TPE would be acquired sometime towards Dec 24 so he could be included in a deal at the deadline, simply to make salaries match. This could possibly be Landry or a contract such as Chris Wilcox, an expiring contract added simply to help grease the salary numbers to make the trade work. Picks would undoubtedly have to be included. If Philly is losing both Brand's and Iggy's contracts for essentially expirings and young talent, they should be willing to swap picks giving us the right to select the highest of either their lottery pick or our current pick swap with NY, which we can then send to Denver as further sweetner to get Melo here. Sacramento gets to salvage good value for Cousins, Brooks and Scola. Philly gets out from underneath a lot of salary, gets to rebuild with some young talent, and all by moving down in the 2011 draft a few notches. Denver gets Iggy, Cousins, and a lottery pick. We get Melo and Brand as Scola's replacement. We take on a lot of salary but it leaves us with...... Lowry/Ish Martin/Courtney Melo/FA (possibly one of Battier or Jeffries bought out and brought back) Yao/Miller Brand/Patterson (possibly Hayes back after a buyout.)
