Rooting that somehow the Rockets will make the playoffs is nothing more than mental masterbation. There's just nothing worthwhile to be gained even if, by some miracle, we gained the 8th seed. First, the positives. Two more home games. Whoopie! Toyota Center is not necessarily an advantage (see last 4 home game results). 2 more games of over-priced tickets, $10 beer and $5 hot dogs. There'd probably be a commemorative t-shirt for fools with money to burn. We'd just be lining Les' pockets by any more financial support of a bad product. Of course, our rookies would get 4 games of playoff experience. Big whoop! IMHO, the Rockets are out-manned and short on talent compared with the most likely opponents, e.g. Spurs, Thunder, Mavs, even the Jazz and the Suns. Do we really want to showcase our glaring weaknesses in the national spotlight. Enough of poor shot selection and even poorer execution. Rebounding? Or lack thereof. Watching our matador defense at its best(worst). Just plain embarassing, particularly throughout the month of April. The guys just look exhausted. 6 games in 8 nights will do that to ya. And the officiating has been inconsistent all year, and (conspiracy theory time) seemingly is slanted against the Rockets. I suppose we need to wait for one more loss to close it out - it'll probably be Wednesday night. Tons of things to do to create a bettter product next year - may as well get started ASAP. Morey's plete is overflowing!
this post is the truth. we arent gonna win the first round series and only 2 games added to season at home.
we need to get rid of the pick obligation to NJ this year if nothing else, hurts our flexibility going forward if we have to keep owing them (can't trade consecutive year picks)
What makes you so sure the Rockets have zero chance in the playoffs. We are currently tied for the 8th spot. Once in the playoffs, it doesn't matter what you did in the regular season. We can easily upset the Spurs or the Thunder like any other team. They are not unbeatable. And in case you guys forgot, the Mavs still have 4 games left and could lose at least 3 games knocking them out of the playoffs making the 7th spot available as well.
I'd rather have the two picks in this deep draft and give it to them next year. Odds are next year you won't be able to get a player with as much upside as Rivers or Lamb with pick 13 or 14th. I also still think if we don't love any players the Nets would gladly take the Knicks pick to have the obligation removed if Morey thought having it was that valuable. I think missing the playoffs gives us way more flexibility this offseason.
Gets rid of the obligation pick we owe from what was easily the worst deal Morey ever made. Plus, Les needs to see first hand what happens to a playoff team that doesn't have a star.
Yo Bobby, fergetaboutit. It ain't over till it's over and since I'll be sacrificing my Rockets blood in Big D Wed night hold your masturbation thoughts for some other time. Go Rockets!
I would only be for a playoff berth if it would somehow solidify camraderie in the sense that it will make Dragic take a pay cut to stay in Houston. That's just wishful thinking though, and doubt it really has much influence. Going to the playoffs may even drive up his asking price. Keeping the draft pick is nice, but holding onto him is more important. Whatever helps us hold onto him for a reasonable price.
The playoffs aren't some magical team booster. The Bobcats and Bucks made it for the first time in a while a few years ago and both teams have declined since.
These same so called.fans will be jumping right back on the bandwagon if we make the playoffs...its such a weak argument that we should lose to get a lottery pick...there is little chance you will get lucky in the draft..unless u have somebody like a Durant or Yao coming out its a crapshoot ..u go to the playoffs and take your chances.there..not in the lottery
