In the past two games the Rockets are 17-65 from behind the arc (their opponents are 15-41)... Morey better find a consistent outside shooter if this is the style of offense he wants to run.

I posted this in the Scola thread a few games ago. I copied it here, but removed my comments about Scola fitting in with this system. The data is from NBA.com advanced stats and doesn't include the last 2 or 3 games. As you can see almost all the regulars take 1 out of 3 shots from 3P.
I may be wrong, but doesn't the threat of a solid mid range game make 3pters and shots in the paint much easier to attempt? I don't think you can just assume that all these different types of shots are not in some way interrelated in terms of how it affects their overall efficiency.
We need to rely less on three's but the mid range jumper is not the answer. The Harden Iso, the Lin drive and kick, the transition points, and the three's can all be countered by good teams. We need some more easy high percentage buckets to fill in the gaps of our offense. The problem is that Asik is not built to run the PnR and he has no real post game.
We dont have any players skilled enough to make them it seems. Ppat shoots the best from mid but,McHale camps him in corners, lin is just a worthless shooter , harden is extremely limited on offense and his shot isnt consistent, parsons is just sad when shooting anywhere on court, no consistent shooters off bench, we are just lacking skilled players
With the lack of skilled shooters we wouldn't be efficient i guess. We are lacking that star player that can create his own shot while shooting high% someone like melo
