Agreed. He had a very good postseason, but people forget that his regular season was nothing special at all. One postseason does not make a franchise guy.

I'm speaking of the "perception" of them being overpaid, when in fact they're not, NBA teams value defense a lot more seriously than average fans.

Maybe in the "old" NBA he would just be average, but now Hibbert's worth the max. Maybe I termed it incorrectly, Hibbert's not a "franchise guy" but he is worth the max, if Indiana didn't pay him a lot of other teams would have, including us (pre-DH).

Yeah I thought about what I posted later on that day. I was like wait, isnt that supply demand? Brain farts. Anyway, as much as I think most centers get overpaid, it is a supply and demand set up, so they get paid. Pay that man his money (john malkovich voice)

for comparison, serge ibaka got 4 years, 48 million. for a guy that has a limited offensive game, this seems overpaid.

Agreed. Looking back at the 2011 draft though, it's crazy to think now that we could have ended up with Kawhi Leonard, Kenneth Faried and Chandler Parsons that year.

marc gasol is not a franchise guy... wtf are u guys talking about. He is just a very good center with good all around skills.
He averaged 14 ppg, 8 rpg, 4 apg , 1 stl and 1.7 bpg. Thats not a franchise player numbers, and he is not THAT good on the defensive side as a lot of peopple say he is.
I Think both, larry sanders and the bucks got a pretty good deal. He is a defensive center with the chance to become decent on offense.
The only center who is a franchise player right now is DH.

He anchors your defense, can shoot, score down low, rebound, efficient, good passer. What more could you want?

There's a lot of risk in that contract for the Bucks. While Sanders did have a semi-breakout season last year he has a knucklehead issue that is serious enough it could crater his career. He's a talented player, great defensive timing instinct, but he's gotta keep it going for them to get value out of his deal. Will be interesting to see if he improves this season. If he doesn't...could be a long 4 years for Milwaukee dealing with that deal.

He dosent really excell at nothing, thats not a franchise player. Dont get me wrong, he is great, but he is not a cornerstone for a franchise, more of an all star second fiddle kinda of guy

Of course he excels at several things. He's one of the best defenders in the game. And he is an extremely good shooter and passer for a center.

He's good enough to be the best player on a contender. Is that enough to call him a franchise player or not, I don't know, that's more of a semantical discussion.

Contender? the grizz where pretenders, they got swept by a real contender, and the only reason they beat okc was wb injury.
I dont think you can actually build around him, but he is a great player to have as a second option. He is skilled for his position and can help a team a lot.
Just because there are not good centers anymore dosent mean that the best of them are superstars or franchise players. He is a bit overrated right now.

Some kids just don't have it. The only hope for Sanders at this point is for him to be ejected out of Milwaukee immediately in a move that shakes him to his core. He needs to go to a team with strong leadership with someone like KG on it that will punch his lights out when he starts acting stupid. It's the only chance Sanders will have of becoming productive for a team. He's got his dough. But he doesn't have the character to handle the dough. Problem is now...there is virtually no team willing to take on the risk of paying him $44 million to be a r****d for 4 years.

Perhaps the Knicks would take him and Ilyasova for Amare?

Before you toot your own horn, we are only 5 games into the season of his first year in the deal and you're already prepared to proclaim that he won't play up to his contract?

The stats don't lie. Last year with Sanders manning the paint, opposing teams had the lowest FG% around the rim of anyone in the NBA. Yes, better than Roy Hibbert and Dwight Howard. I'm not saying he's better than them, I'm just saying that sort of rim protection alone in his sophomore year warrants that kind of money.

Knicks tried to dump Amare to any team for free and couldn't do it. Milwaukee is supposed to give up Larry Sanders AND Ilyasova?
