BimaThug returns as we go long to analyze the 2012 NBA Draft and the Rockets selections of Jeremy Lamb, Royce White and Terrence Jones, along with the acquisition of second round pick Furkan Aldemir. We also talk about the Rockets signing of Omer Asik to an offer sheet, the pursuit of Eric Gordon and how this impacts the Dwight Howard chase.

Clutch said MKG was #2 on our draft board.

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. Will listen to the rest of the podcast tomorrow (today).

It seems like the more new school analytics-oriented GMs there are in the NBA (Rich Cho, the guy in Portland) the more similar player evaluation other teams will have of players as Morey. It seems like Morey's competitive advantage (analytics) is disappearing as other smart, young, statistically intelligent GMs are hired by NBA teams.

Too much Dwight excitement for me to listen right now anyway.

1. Thoughts on Atlanta getting Howard?

2. Interesting to hear about Morey's interest in Noah from you guys. I would not be surprise if he and Gar Forman from Chicago are talking even now about what to do with each of Asik and Noah and exploring all options.

3. I wonder if something can be worked out among HOU, CHI, Asik and Lee in which

(a) the Rockets/Asik amend the offer so that it's $8.3 or 8.4 mil/year over 4 years (with cap hit more like $5M, $5.2M, $11.6M, $11.6M) instead of 3 years,
(b) Bulls would match the contract the second it is made (so that Courtney Lee's "renouncement" gets reverted within one second),
(c) Courtney Lee is signed to a contract starting at $5.6M and traded to Chicago in a package with Marcus Morris (total salary $7.5M) and maybe something else (draft pick, propsect) for Joakim Noah ($11.3M) (salary matches just well enough).

Seems this could work out for everyone:

For Asik, he gets one more guaranteed year at $8.3M.

For Lee, he gets the "a little more than MLE" contract that he said he wanted.

For HOU, they get a center that they want at a decent price for a guy who is probably not as useful if they have Eric Gordon (or if they think Jeremy Lamb is ready to play).

For CHI, it gets them out of the salary bind that they would have been in with or without matching HOU's 3 year offer. You get a more "level" Asik contract that maxes out at $11.6 M rather than $14.9M. Asik is also $6M/year cheaper than Noah in the next 2 seasons, which gets them out of the luxury tax bind that they would have been in with Noah.

Whenever the subject of Dwight Howard returning home someday to play for the Hawks was raised, Dwight (softly) shot down the idea. Since leaving the ATL outta high school, he's never lived there in the off-season, never warmed to the idea of returning. For any reason.

Clutch, after the selection of Terrence Jones at 18 -

"Never again, unless (the Rockets) have a couple of superstars, will I ever think that they (Morey) will consider need at all."

One suggestion would be to set a topic and take some questions from the board.

BTW - Really dug the professional intros and bumper music, very nice touch. Also the "Maybe, maybe no" bit...

This one seemed more produced, and to me was a good bit better than the last because of it.

I would give this 5 stars.

really like what bimathug had to say about the "dwight howard" scenario. If we do get him and he does walk next season then so what, we still have asik. that is if chicago doesnt match.
