Predict: 5-8 spot in the West

I wouldn't mind making the playoffs so long as we don't finish as the 8th seed.

 

I have a feeling that they might make the 7th place

Typical for this season, not bad but not good enough for 6th seed

 

6th seed would require for 2 out of the Grizz, Mavs, and Portland to play at a lower level than they've been playing for the season and for the Rockets to step up their play.

If I had to make a bet, I'd say Rockets finish 7th given that team has played some semblance of defense these past few games but I don't count on two of those teams above us falling off. None of the teams 5-7 right now want anything to do with the 8th seed and Utah might just outright tank if they're in 9th with 10-15 games to go.

I don't love our chances against San Antonio, but it's still better than going against Golden State.

 

Rockets will finish 8th and get obliterated by GSW. This season has been entirely dedicated to making us miserable. An Warriors annihilation is the only true end.

 

It's hard to predict especially the Grizzlies.
But Mavs vs Charlotte, Indiana and Detroit next week you put all as wins and I seriously doubt they win most of those games. They are playing about the same level all these teams right now.
Also depending if GSW is still en route to complete the record the last week vs the Grizzlies they may rest players.

 

utah will not tank. They want to make the playoffs even to get their butts kicked. That's success in their book. They already have too much young talent and will be hard pressed to pay it all. Not to mention that the draft around 12-25 has around the same talent as far I know.

 

Probably the 1 seed... Oh we're talking real life?? Then 7-9, and any of those spots don't matter because "it'll all be over soon" just like the twitter guy last year who told the Mavs the same thing...

I really hope wet don't get 8th seed. Really, if we're not 5th seed then we are tremendously screwed and would be better off in the lottery.

Insult to injury

 

I originally had them 41-41 and 9th seed. Now I have them losing 3 more than that at 38-44, and still 9th seed.

I feel like I'm all alone on sanity island as the 1 guy who doesn't automatically assume we will make the playoffs. I'd be shocked if we made the playoffs.

We shot 3-34 from 3 last night! Go use basketball reference's team game finder and understand that this is historically the worst 3pt shooting team in the history of the Rockets franchise...and our only analytics algorithm we know is to shoot maur 3s like there is no tomorrow.

So that shooting display plus our continued freak show with now signing 2 NBA rejects to fill the roster is why I have them winning 3 less than I did previously.

We got really lucky with Anthony Davis playing injured last night. He sniffs anything close to his usual average against us, and we would've lost.

It's depressing to think we used to own GSW in the regular season and Mavs/Portland in playoff seeding but now we have taken 2 steps back while GSW has taken 2 steps forward since last year.

I'll keep you company. I don't think they're a lock for the playoffs. They're so unpredictable and unorganized, they could just crap the bed at any time.

And, honestly, even if the make the 8th seed, that's just four nationally-televised demolitions by Golden State with the series-clincher at Toyota Center. I think I'd prefer they just miss the playoffs rather than get the 8th seed.

 

The Rockets will be the 8th seed and then get embarrassed worse than the Texans did in the playoffs. No first round pick.
